website. >> chair mandelman: great. thank you. >> good morning. the request is in the amount of approximately $082,000 for sfmta and planning to initial phase fort geary 19th avenue subway. this was prepared at the request of commissioner melgar who asked us to pull this together in 2021. the strategic case will be a joint initiative of sfcta and sfmta. this includes $557,000 for consultant work and $175,000 and 75,000 to sfmta and sf planning respectively. the subway was one of four recommendations that came out of the connect sf strategy. an extension of the subway beyond chinatown. planning and development of the geary avenue subway is to be a multi-phased process and this supports the first of the phases. the strategic casework will build on the analysis as part of connect sf while pivoting to more specific planning for this project. the strategic work is in many respects a table-setting exercise for the analysis and environmental clearance studies to follow. while we anticipate that a focused amount of technical work will take place, it will be around identifying the high level benefits and costs of a subw
