the sfmta has received over $9230 million -- $90 million in stimulus funding. we received three grants totaling $90 million in the past year. in addition, through the california department of transportation we received $539 ,000 from the transportation enhancement funds for pedestrian improvements. the agency has placed these funds to good use. we've focused on 16 programmatic activities. and we've issued 14 contracts. four were professional services contracts, three were construction contracts, and seven procurements. and we also self-performed the maintenance and preventative maintnans for utilization of these funds. recently from the federal government we received word that the sfmta ranked fourth among -- fourth in the nation among top agencies in overall jobs creation through the use of the funding. a total of 1,833 jobs were created or sustained. and of that, over 800 jobs were created by the use of this funding. in addition, we received word that the sfmta ranks sixth among top agencies in the nation for total job hours locked. as of august 1, 1,025,000

[applause] >> good afternoon. i'm pretty much a man of few words so i like to thank the m.t.a. board for this great honor. i'd like to thank carter, john, and to you and others for their support. chairman nolan: thank you on bhaft board and the people of san francisco for your outstanding work. we appreciate it. >> congratulations to our awardees. the next item i need to cover with you is regarding the recent lifting of the bike injunction. as you may be aware, on august 9, mayor newsome was joined by supervisor mirkarimi, the san francisco bike coalition and the san francisco m.t.a. in launching the first san francisco bicycle plan project post the injunction. the project follows in order by the san francisco superior court that lifted its 2006 injunction which prevented us from immening -- implementing projects under the bike plan. neatly there after we announced

>> smith, sfmta. we adopted our budget plan just last year. every five years we adopt a new bike plan and fund bicycle project. we are scheduled to do this again, funded to start the process again in two years adapt another bike plan to the state of affairs in san francisco. look at these things within the context that it will not be long before the next bite plan is due to be put together. -- next bike plan is due to be put together. for us to go back at this point and look at adapting the bike plan to fit in the recommendations and to environmental review, it would be very expensive and take a lot of time. every time we begin a process like that, we have to survey all of the locations where we have planned by improvements, see what new developments are out there, and if it is being incorporated in the numbers. our last by plan environmental review was so expensive it took about three years for us to complete. we would definitely have to spend a lot of time we doing analysis of the locations that can just be done, because our injunction was j

. >> some time last year, the sfmta board asked us to look into this issue. there seems to be some confusion when people bring the topic up. there is two types of licensing that can be discussed. one is the licensing of bicycles, which the previous respondents addressed. that is in the state of california vehicle code, where it is limited to $12, which in most cases does not cover the cost of administering such a program. such programs can be somewhat useful in aiding and recovering a stolen bicycle. hubbard, there are sort of third party -- however, there are sort of third party bicycle internet registration services that are more useful if the bicycle shows up in another city or another state. we encourage bicyclists who are worried about recovering a stolen bicycle to use one of these national registries. the police know about these as well and are able to search the databases. my sense is that the local level licensing of bicycles is something our parents all remember going down to the fire department and doing, but in this day and age it is not practical

speeding is sfpd but parking is sfmta. how does one make a request for parking violation data in a particular part of the city in mta? >> park and data you should go to sunshine ordinance and go through sfmtas, um... carlin salaya and she can obtain this information for you. >> that's,celkya for her last name. i know we're running out of time and i thank you for having us. one of the points out to pedestrian and bicycle commune canties using streets and sidewalks as far as the spot program goes is we do have besides my end in education we also have enforcement wing. as most issues you have with street and sidewalk blocking in your neighborhoods the more the enforcement groups in those areas know about it the more we can actually take action. what the spot program has done for one avenue is have a spot hotline. we have a phone number we give out to the contractors we site as well as any private individual that sees an unsafe work site condition on their streets or sidewalks that looks - i made the mention about a sidewalk b

and we just wanted to recommend that the sfmta proceed with the full schedule of the s.f. park pilot program as soon as possible. i don't know if somebody has captured the numbers for san francisco in particular. i know that in many major urban areas the average is about 30% of the traffic in downtown, you know, central business type areas. people circling around looking for parking. and s.f. park really does provide a way to make parking available to the people who need it. and also in the current system we have, which is that a random number of people who just happened to get parking meter spaces get very cheap parking. and then everybody who isn't part of that random group gets no parking or very expensive parking. and we think evening that out and targeting parking in meter areas to a vacancy percentage is the way to go. so we just want to -- we have made statements in the past in support of the s.f. park program. and we want to make it clear that we think that proceeding with the pilot program is a good policy and that this is something the agency should pursue with a
