an engine burst into flames forcing an emergency landing at sfo overnight. pete suratos spoke with passenger who is got off the plane. >> reporter: hearing from passengers who said they were actually on the plane for about 40 minutes in that flight that was expected to head to sydney. they were there for about 40 minutes before it was turned to sfo, but they say that the landing was safe. i want to show you some of the video from when the plane landed here at sfo. now, according to officials, we're hearing that united flight 863 took flight from sfo around 11:00 p.m. before returning, due to an engine problem. now, passengers said it was a smooth landing and an sfo official says there were roughly six to eight emergency vehicles waiting upon the flight's return. it did not affect airport operations, but the runway reopening about a minute or two later. i want to show our viewers a screen shot of the actual flight path from flightaware.com. you can see there on the fath of the flight, as it circles around back to sfo. now, i did get an e-mail from united, who

united airlines 1863 landing at sfo in the overnight hours.ding for australia took off 11:00 p.m. last night. shortly into the flight, a pilot of another plane reported sparks or fire coming from that united engine. the united plane circled around sfo for about 90 minutes to dump enough fuel before landing. thankfully, no injury zploos doze. >>> families visiting the oakland zoo got stuck in these gondolas in midair for about an hour. this was part of the new california trail that just opened yesterday at the zoo. the zoo blames the glitch on an automatic shutoff. >> i will be asking for my membership back. i'll just go to the san francisco zoo. >> no one was hurt. the zoo is looking into what caused that glitch and to make sure it doesn't happen again. the oakland zoo's gondolas have been in operation for 13 months. the zoo says when there's a glitch, the system shuts down for 30 minutes. zoo officials spoke with the gondola's manufacture and are working on a way to bypass the system's shutdown so people won't be stranded. today's incident is

sfo, clear conditions out there. winds are changing and temperatures will feel cooler today, a lot cooler than saturday. sunday temperatures started dropping and they will continue to drop through the middle of the week. checking in on the visibility map here, you can see we have the low cloud cover out there. it looks like most of the clouds are high enough ha visibility is fine. we are at 10 miles for most locations, good news for drivers. overall the satellite and radar is showing parts of concord with cloud cover being pushed in. this is all part of the cloud cover with the west wind returning. over the weekend the winds were dry, coming in from the north. this is a look at the cloud cover out there. we may notice some through noon through san francisco and along the coast but a lot of that is not going to impact many inland locations. you can expect clear conditions throughout the day and tomorrow morning the marine layer returns, mostly south of the golden gate bridge. take a look at the wind speeds this hour,
