traffic has really begun to pick up here at sfo.were live about an hour ago and it was a little quiet. i can tell that some of those flights are getting ready to depart because there has been an influx of folks within the last half hour. one thing is for sure, traffic will continue to pick up because there is a major travel holiday, especially now that that vaccine is available and more folks feel comfortable traveling. here at sfo officials say they are still well below that pre-pandemic travel rate but they are expecting that uptick in travel. just last week the airport saw a high of 31,000 passengers on one day. they could see as many as 38,000 passengers on a peak day this weekend. today is expected to be the busiest day of the holiday weekend at the oakland airport with more than 30,000 passengers expected to pass through today and more than 130,000 for the long weekend. for those heading to destinations that require that proof of a negative covid test, officials at the airport say that free testing is available there on site.
