it was not a good day to be flying out of sfo either. people were stuck on planes for hours today because the wind caused a ground stop and still delays through midnight. today, almost 500 flights were delayed. 27 were canceled. paul was talking about the wind there earlier. you know, we say things like gusty. i don't know if that quite covers. center literally hurricane forced winds and 75 miles an hour gusts and that's the threshold of the actual hurricane. that's what we were talking about today and did a ton of damage across the bay area. we'll go to the video wall here. all of these icons, they're separate flooding or wind damage reports across the bay area. over 150 of these once again over the last 24 hours. just covering the map. considering how widespread the issues were. take a look at the strongest wind gusts. the hills above got up to 90 miles an hour as we had that 74 miles an hour gust at sfo right at noon. in the lower elevations where the winds are always gustier and how they funnel through the san bruno gap. most spots h

sfo over 70 miles per hour. let's get to the microclimate forecast because we are expecting to see a much calmer weather pattern. this will be helpful for us because we don't want to see the wind gusts. notice the system is now out of the area. we're seeing clear conditions and calmer accompanying that and dry weather and sunshine. this will be helpful for us because we've seen so much rain. we're due for a break. we still have that humidity and the mugginess because of that subtropical moisture tap. it was a warmer system, but if you notice, we're still in the 50s, but it will feel cooler and more comfortable. san jose, 51 degrees. i want to show you the 24-hour temperature change. in some spot, including livermore, san francisco, there was about an 11 to 15-degree difference from the last 24 hours. things will dry out. the sunshine will remain for today and even tomorrow. then, yes, we have a little bit of a change over the weekend, but i will always help you guide through this. i'll be back with my full forec

now delays being reported sfo, oakland or san jose in the high country. lot of folks headed up to the snow and wind up. the roadways are open and clear. you're looking at 80 right now at castle peak and we've got a lot of snow on the side of the road there. but a ton of snow in the mountains and well, something want to watch out for. you can get up there. but pack your chains if you're going that direction. we've got another storm system coming in over the weekend that will bring more snow and winter storm watches being posted saturday night through at least sunday night as well. and yeah, we'll see periods of heavy snow again and some gusty winds not as gusty as last storm system but still up to 2 feet above. 3500 feet of snow coming in at a much lower level see maybe 2, maybe 3 feet of snow above 5,000 feet. so, yeah, that's a significant storm system headed up in the high country. if you're headed that way, you've got to be prepared. get a forecast for you to the monterey bay, a dry day tomorrow. some showers a possibility on sunday 50's and 60's there

a 74 miles an hour gust at sfo, it led to a ground stop. most saw wind gusts 45-55 miles an hour wind, strong enough to do widespread damage. the winds continue to back off. right now only a handful of spots across the bay area are reporting any substantial wind gusts. the strongest on the map now is 30 miles an hour in fairfield. compare that to the 74 and 88 miles an hour gusts we had several hours ago. the high wind warning does technically continue until 11:00 p.m., but the greatest hazard is behind us. watch out if you are driving around this evening, watch for down bhe downed power lines, and flooded roads because the water is still making its way through water sheds around the bay area. we could have water concerns, light showers falling in the santa cruz mountains, that will wind down after another wet system, especially in the santa cruz mountains, almost four and a half inches of rain, three inches in the higher north bay, kentfield, most half inch to one-inch range, 3/10 of an inch in san jose. we have one flood warning in effect
