flights between sfo and the lonestar state could be affected. >>> let's turn now to abc 7 news meteorologist drew tuma to show us how this hurricane developed so quickly into the worst on record. drew? >> cheryl, very quickly. just in the past 24 hours, it went from a tropical storm to a major category 5 hurricane. you really need two basic ingredients for this. very warm ocean water and very calm wind where the storm develops. the first thing, our ocean temperature. this was the track it took. hurricane patricia right here. look at the ocean water temperatures. it went through 88 degrees fahrenheit. 89 degrees fahrenheit. this is high octane fuel for storms. the second ingredient that the storm had, very calm winds. we'll take you to 35,000 feet in the atmosphere, basically in jet plane fly. this is where the wind really steers storms. you can see around the hurricanes, very calm winds. you in the this blue. that is very strong winds in the atmosphere. once it encounters those strong winds, it gets ripped apart like a knife through cake. it goes from a category 5 storm to a tropical storm i
