so feedback from sfpd and the industry was really, really positive. as it was two years ago, and we're hopeful to do this annually as opposed to every other year, again, sort of staff time allows us to do these things. the fourth of july holiday came right on us after that happened so we haven't been able to get back together with command staff and some of the other people who helped us facilitate to talk about the outcomes but we hope that we will end up with some possible pieces of legislation to remedy some issues or policy directives that you might want to take up as new or, you know, consistent conditions and permits and other things like that. an issue that also came up that i think i'm going to pursue where we discussed the possibility of doing a night life summit or meetup but focusing it on neighborhood issues and industry as opposed to simply the safety summit because obviously a part of what we do here is interact with neighbors and industry. also need assistance in doing that the best possible, so hopefully my neighborhood representatives

working with sfpd last year, those issues were all but resolved. we were able -- sfpd was able to change some nighttime deployment and we were able to work with the management and neighbors all went well and those issues were pretty much taken care of. the club was then reclosed and remodeled and reopened as manor west. as manor west is open, we have yet to have any problems as far as what was going on with boss as far as control or crowd control or issues in the area. it's really come back to just pure sound. we've met with the owners of manor west once or twice in the field doing sound tests on the may 8, 2010 with sergeant yarmagucci from southern station who is here to talk on this issue. he and i were able to go into the residence, take some basic sound readings and look around and what we determined at that time is we believe that actually one or three of the sky lights were probably leaking sound that may have happened during the remodel. we met with management that night and told them that basically cover the sky lights, redo the soundproof

department for people outside san francisco is at an all-time high at about 76% of recruits coming into sfpd not living in san francisco or come from san francisco. it is almost as high with the fire department. when we look at the relationship, i think, between recruitment to our public safety sectors, and ask why there is not more, i think, hunting and recruiting of people locally, the answers are, i think, we would love to do so, but there's not much of a focused strategy to make that happen. unfortunately, as of the national downturn economically, we have now seen that the unemployment rate for 16 to 19 year-old literally is over 40%, the highest since world war ii. that is pretty much minute here in the city and county of san francisco. we also know that 1000 police officers and 500 firefighters will be retiring or could be retiring within the next five years. we would like to see -- there to be some strategy in place that helps, i think, replete the number of personnel that we may be losing, but also benefits in the fact that these are san franciscans who would really like to work for
