that blame is being put on the officers within sfpd. the department was under investigation by the department of justice not too long ago which found evidence of racial discrimination against certain minority groups specifically when it came to traffic stops and use of force. of course today new details from this new report. the report was commissioned by the public defender's office which will be released later had morning. according to "the "san francisco examiner"" black and had minority defendants are booked on more severe charges when they are jailed impacting their cases as they move through the courts. this report, which examines more than 10,000 cases between 2011 and 20 14 showed blacks face 50% more severe charges than whites. the average jail time for blacks is 30 days which would be 62% longer than their white counterparts and blacks are 60% more likely to be convicted on felonies. sfpd disputes this reports saying officers make arrests based on the crimes present and their standard is probable cause. a public defend er will
