sam ramarian is from dpa and they joined the task force as sfpd members and we have a variety of staff joined the meetings as content is appropriate. then ann raskin is our member from the department of emergency management and heather lowell has been sitting on our task force as well. for the community members, we did some review and wanted to ensure consistency with the remaining of the membership in the task force. so we were seeking from community members and people who had familiarity with information technology or data analysis. they had familiarity with the police department and possibly an existing relationship and knowledge of community policing and operations. it led us to the sponsor working group on policing. we had two members from that group that were pretty active and knowledgeable in asking good question staffing. so we identified carolyn thomas and dr. james taylor to sit on the task force to represent the community perspective. in phase one, we began the sector control and we conduct the work out of radio cars. they're the primary responders to calls for service and c

"today in the bay's" pete suratos joining us live from sfpd headquarters with details. pete? >> reporter: good morning to you, laura, and we're talking about the black doodler. if that name rings a bell for folks, he caused plenty of terror during the 1970s in the gay community in san francisco. we're hoping to get more details on the cold case later today during the press conference, behind me by sfpd. let's show you a sketch of the man that we're talking about, the black doodler that is. he got that name because he was a black man and apparently sketched or doodled gay people before sexual encounter answer afterwards he would kill them. during the span of 1974 to 1975, he stabbed 14 gay men and leaving their bodies all over the city of san francisco. we got a chance to speak to long time gay rights activist cleve jones who says there has been talk of recent dna evidence when it comes to this case. he talked about the lack of media coverage on this story by the mainstream press. >> we're very reluctant to cover what was happening in the gay community at that time, and when t
