we were made aware several months ago that sfpuc plans to extend wsip until 2021 and increase the budget by $42 million. we've been reviewing the proposed wsip extension skelz and budgets increase and we'll be looking forward to seeing the same documents that you folks will be seeing in another couple of weeks. our main interest on that note, aside from reviewing those documents, will be to extend the period that ab-1823 and i think dan will probably talk about that. it will end the oversight -- it will -- excuse me, we just need to extend it a few extra years and we view that the schedules are still a little bit uncertain and so our role as bosca is to make sure that we have state oversight in place. we've had discussions with the p.u.c. staff about that. we believe they are in support of that particular activity and hopefully they'll discuss that coming up. the last is reported to the quarterly reports in wsi. i know the last fall has been a challenge for your staff because the city's budgets has been -- or at least the new software that tracks budgets has been in an upheaval state. an

it's also attended typically on the phone by sfpuc and other city agencies that do work on the island. they review and comment and advise tida on the navy's proposed work plans and other documents for the environmental program. they've also been invaluable in 20 2014. 2015, we had a lot of meetings to discuss the navy's environmental program. they assisted in both planning for those meetings and presenting materials, as well as in working with city agencies, particularly sfpuc to help establish standard work practices on the island where the navy has either not completed their environmental work or where they have completed their work but they are land use controls. the land use controls we have on the island are primarily related to hydrocarbons in ground water where they've been remediated to such an extent that there's no longer a risk to off-gassing or other associated concerns, but they haven't been able to get 100% of the material out of the soil. and those are really standard ppe, personal protective equipment, criteria that are required in some of those circumstances. the envi

i just learned a couple days ago the sfpuc is moving forward on a plan to develop a three acre site at 1550 evans, third street and evans each where the t light rail 19 and 44 come together with a 44,000 square foot community center. we need community space. it's intended to replace the facilities at 1800 oak dale. some of my neighbors have been clamoring for housing at that site and the p.u.c. has been resistant many of this is not within your purview but as a sister agency and an agency tasked with really making sure we maximize the investments in infrastructure that we've had and that the bus rapid transit that will be coming out of the shipyard is most useful, i urge you to send some of your planners to talk sense into them. i'm going to try to do that myself and a number of people will as well but it really does seem to be a shame that we're going to essentially waste a three-acre site on a small space when we could be building hundreds of units of housing there, hundreds of homes for people and office and administrative facilities to maximize use of that site. >> next speaker ple
