. >> reporter: the sfpuc is urging people to stop flushing any kind of wipe. >> think before you flush. >> reporter: a message east bay mud and the city of san jose are also spreading as more people are using wipes instead of paper. those wipes don't just cause trouble here at wastewater treatment facilities. they may get stuck in your pipes, causing your toilet to back up. an expensive fix no one wants to deal with during a shelter in place. >> they got to go into the sewer tank and clear it all out. big problems. >> i just got through paying $7,000 to have my pipes cleaned and redone, so i don't flush wipes down the toilet. >> reporter: all those wipes cleaned out of treatment plant equipment have to be treated and taken to the landfill. a messy job you can help prevent. >> it goes right into a separate little garbage right there. >> reporter: not in the toilet. jean elle, nbc bay area news. >>> stuck at home sheltering in place without any power. that's how today went for some people in danville and orinda. pg&e shut the power off to make improvements as wildfire season approaches.

the sfpuc greed to do the additional reporting and monitoring. i'd like to say that we received one letter from the alameda county water district expressing their agreement for the additional reporting and stating that the district does not oppose certification of the final e.i.r. on april 1, the department published a supplemental responses to comments document, addressing the comments received on the circulated portion of the e.i.r. the supplemental responses to comments, in combination with the recirculates portions of the e.i.r., the november 2016 draft e.i.r., and the september 2017 responses to comments together constitutes the final e.i.r. we believe the e.i.r. is adequate and provides decision makers and the public with the information to understand the financial impacts on the environment. on this basis, staff asks that you approve the final document and find that the final document as prepared conforms with ceqa, the ceqa siguidelin, and chapter 31 of this code. that concludes my presentation. thank you. >> clerk: chan, do we have anyon

my name is antoinette johnson, and i am an exempt employee at sfpuc as a water quality tech, and i justecided to come over this home because i wanted to speak regarding me being a 49-years native of san francisco. i decided to go back to college after 24 years to get my water-wastewater treatment technology college degree. i came in on board with 20 hours per week. i do have to work several other jobs just to make my ends meet, and i would just love to have some participation in the ongoing process of civil service -- as a full-time civil service. i have been waiting patiently, i've been applying continuously on-line to look forward to full-time work, but overall, i work hand in hand with my full-time employees with no benefits. i would love to do overtime, but unfortunately, as exempt, you can only get 20 hours per week. and i just look forward to -- well, i honestly can just say i've just been waiting patiently and holding onto serve my community here in san francisco as a native, and -- excuse me -- and i'm just waiting patiently to be a full-time exempt in my own city. i do not want
