to the credit of sfusd, it took a slightly different tactic from other school districts. instead of simply letting teachers go, council bans consulted -- counseled and consulted with teachers. creation of weekly common planning time among teachers and administration. what that means is teaching teachers to know how to use formative assessment and data more routinely to adjust their instruction day-by-day, week by week, and change their instructional plans and units according to the needs of students. using that results oriented cycle of inquiry at the zone and the district bubble as well. to look at data constantly about what is happening and what kind of supports are needed to sustain change. the strengthening of the core curriculum and expand job embedded professional development and that accomplished through the work was nationally recognized experts in the field and have focused attention on the needs of english-language learners, new curriculum and collaboration and beginning support with language pathways and working for student success. many of our teachers have co

there is a lot to talk about what is going on in sfusd. the pathway programs, if california is not the country -- we have 231 national born certified teachers. if you are not familiar with certification, it is a level of professionalism that was launched about 15 years ago, the side of the elevator level of teaching the same way that a lawyer passes the bar exam or a doctor passes his or her certified medical exams. the nationwide average, we have one of the best represented cities in america for this category. our well as programs, libraries, art, music. the last three funded by the richmond funds. and the quality teacher education act of 2008. this was a parcel tax passed by the citizens of san francisco. nearly 70% of the vote providing heads of salaries to our teachers, designed to make this our teaching work force. supervisor farrell, i referenced the family satisfaction survey. i don't have the total number of families involved, but 96% of the families say that their child enjoys going to school. a 93% say that they are going to a nu

supervisor campos: i definitely appreciate the presentation from sfusd and city college about what our nonprofit agencies are doing. what is missing is what you said. what is our business community doing alongside us? what can we do to increase the number of internships, and to incent folks to provide more resources. i am interested in having a conversation and have started at conversation about how we create a culture of citizens that take this seriously. that we need to invest in the next generation of our workforce. many of our employees are not necessarily san franciscans are not necessarily educated in san francisco. one thing i would like to ask is i am happy to meet with the folks that presented today and start thinking about what we as elected officials can propose to the business community. there is work that has been going on in this area, but we have to continue to do a more specific job of making that and making that be a specific part of what it means to be a corporate citizen. i want to recognize the good work that has already happened in this area but i feel like we have
