and it's about an update on the diversity of our work force at sfusd. classified, administrative and certificate. >> i'm hoping less than an hour if the committee members are prompt. okay. >> thank you. i wanted to do a couple of quick shout outs. i want to thank supervisor farra who hosted a wonderful fundraiser last week, two weekends ago. it was a great success. we're still calculating how much she raised but it's going to help us to continue to contribute to the schools and probably increase the number of school yards we can open. i wanted to thank secretary sean donovin who was in town and visited everette middle school. car lien was there representing the superintendent. the kids were amazing. and the new principal there was terrific. i wanted to thank banito with kaddy college, they did a big give away to brett heart elementary school on monday which was really beneficial for a lot of our kids in the community. we also had an opportunity to launch the national launch beyond differences. it was really amazing to hear from our a group of peers on h

i mean, that's what the college and organization -- institutions like sfusd need to pay close attention to. so, again, we're not going to be as the mayor's office focusing on how do we close the achievement gap, how do we make sure our kids are ready. although we do support many of our programs and dcyf has invested significant dollars and we have a $3 million grant with the gate foundation to develop success which actually aligns a lot of our work together. and through that work we are actually able to have priority placement for sfusd students so our students that were coming into city college weren't at city college for five or six years and then dropping off. it also allowed us to register students right away with kids that were thinking about going, but not really sure if they wanted to go, who have now -- are showing great strides and being successful at city college. so, our priority around that piece of it is to be able to support the programs that have shown growth and success and actually bridge the success was pointed out in the acc/jc's report as a program that has really be

further , this portal can become a research for sfusd program beyond school food. the next concept is dinner kits. this is one where it's definitely falling under the lever of new revenue for student nutrition. the students experience vision is that we are providing families with healthy convenient choices for dinner. the underlying financial provision is to provide beyond meals and school revenue. our revenue will always be constrained under it's current business model because it's primary source of revenue, government subsidies is remiss, it's delivering on a mission to providing food to the sf community. what this looks like, there are several different options. one is that dinner kits can be produced by different parties such as foods and we have had initial discussions on them what this could look like. these can be purchased at school and brought home. those are the 10 recommendations with high level overview of four of the ones that we are excited about. from here i'm going to pass the presentation to back to oh keef to face road map to the next step. >> tha

sfusd as an entity is also more fully funding the evidence and research base solutions in the schools aligned with the mission promise neighborhood. for example under sig we also had a wellness center at our high school level. we provided previously maybe a half time nurse and halftime social worker. we determined it was stronger to have a team of full time nurses and social workers to provide more effective services for students and families . we started that under sig and provide resources to schools of highest needs. we had already planned to incorporate full time nurses and social workers and npn provides to the schools paid by the district. the concept of a wellness concept is to make sure that we have these full time teams to work with the teams in the school. that's just one example. one of the things i wanted to reflect on the learning for the planning

and we have five schools that remain with the district and those charter schools are members of the sfusd. the substantive change that was made this year has to do with the local general fund contribution charge that we make per student. we are charging in these new memorandum $163 per unit of ada. >> that is a change from what amount? >> that's lowered from $500. >> really? >> yes. >> why have we lowered the amount? >> we had discussions with our special ed department and with our accounting services and budget people. the concern was that we were losing every year more of the charters to the el dorado . the $500 had been agreed to before in lieu of charting a pro rat a share in local contribution to special ed. the $163 is the amount they would pay if they were member of the el dorado. we looked at the cost benefit of having them leave and the district would lose all of the what's called ab 602 state revenue and federal revenue for charter schools by ada and keeping them we keep all that revenue but only charge them $163. >> i'm sort of curious does it cost us $163 per a d.a.? that seem

it was a snowball game as an sfusd graduate where do you see yourself 10 years from now. we wrote it down on a piece of paper and through it across the table and which ever paper we got, we would get who wro it that answer and we approved the minutes. we had, we had vice-president from soda and she's a senior. our secretary is jack wu, a senior as mission high school. our public relations officer, our historian is liz ben jones and our treasurer is at washington high school. we'll also be having our first cabinet meeting on october 7th, at 5:00 p.m.. there is also a free munis poster contest. the free munis for youth is hosting a new poster drawing contest where the winner will biv a $50 visa gift card and will be recognized at the board of supervisors meeting. >> from that we had different speakers. then we have the san francisco youth commission and he talked to us a little bit about some opportunities about on that we'll have to bridge the gap between the fac and youth commission which is representing city hall down the street. he talked a little bit about the fac and

in order to qualify for this group, we have to at least have 7 percent of the participants must be sfusd students or the event or the program must directly serve our student's. examples would be maybe an outside organization coming in and provide art classes doing after school hours to our students. this group will receive 50 percent discount for facilities fees, but they will have to pay a full fee for staff cost. the next fee we have is tier 3, these community groups are non-profits. these nonprofit civic events opened to the public. events hosted by maybe non-profit organizations or public agencies or the local community. so for example we might have committee meetings or town hall meetings. this group will receive a 10 percent discount for facilities cost and they will be required to pay the full cost of staffing fees. last but not least we have the tier 4 which is four private and commercial uses and these are any events hosted by private or commercial groups whether it's free or they charge a fee to our participants. they will have to pay the fair market rate. they will not receive

i'm very proud to say that sfusd has a strong commitment to pay a living wage to our staff. so that's is a financial corner stone of our stability. for example national policy. it affects our food cost because we are dependent on federal reimbursement rates and district policy affects student nutrition. an example of that would be our feeding every hungry child policy. that was written by commissioners on the board. that commitment to ensuring that every child has access to nutritious healthy meal regardless of the ability to pay has an affect on the nutrition. what this graph shows is basically of these four different levers that we can pull to achieve financial stability. the five areas of influence affect them each differently. for example the new revenue portion you will see is only a red portion of the pie which falls under student nutrition because that is one of the levers is to create new revenue sources which falls squarely within the control of student nutrition. you will see that it only covers the area of student nutrition. that's why with participation, it's a l
