sfusd voices and other youth and as part of their independent news media, they do also report on sfusd issues and some of you may have been part of a panel recently called learning while black, which was organized by lee bromny. the station is housed at burten high school and they're an enter are prized unit of sfusd which means that other than enkind services and space, the station raises all of the cost of running the station and station on air 24/7. that funding primarily comes from membership and then secondarily from grants. so tina, has deep roots in both public media and education and she has worked in m. p.r. in editorial and production for morning editions, and mpr cultural desk. she founded extreme youth zone media, a training program for washington d.c. teenagers and served at a magazine covering asian neighborhoods in new york city. right before joining us here at klw she created and founded the audio journalism. she was there for 11 years. so i'm very happy to introduce her to talk about the work of the station. we also feel that her experience as an educator and public me

we can see here, this is the kri performance on sfusd students who attended our program. there is upward trend from last year to this year, for african-american students, asian students and white students. we have a negative trend for latino and hispanic students. and we'll continue to look at this data and use them to align practices for pre-k to 3. we have more information around the kri in the appendix, because we had a presentation about it last year, too. >> we also wanted to pay attention to our absenteeism rate. we know that students have to come to school in order to be successful. and so here we have three years of student absenteeism data. the numbers they top are the percentages. when we took a more critical eye to look at this data and understand what is going on, we were able to discern a few things. one is that sometimes when parents are sick, they can't bring their kids -- pre-k kids can't come to school by themselves, there is parent illness. also we know during flu season we have lower enrollment. and then we have students with chronic health conditions.

i also want to point out that we have partnered with sfusd to collect sogi data from youth in middle school, high school age, and also transitional aged youth through our youth surveys. these are anonymous surveys, but we do ask questions on sexual orientation and gender identity. they look a little bit different then the ones in our contract management system, and that is because we worked with the school district to determine which items to include, and they are the same items that are on the youth risk and behavioral health survey that the district administrators also. so we wanted to make sure we were in line -- in alignment with the district. this will be great. we typically get around 10,000 surveys back, so we will have that data as well to tell us more about the sogi fields for our younger participants, as well, they just won't be identified. >> okay. >> so i'm not going to read they're all of these, but these are just -- we were asked to provide a list of programs that potentially serve lgbt youth. these are the lists of programs served in our pilot year for transitional age
