senator shaheen? >> well, thank you both very much and thank you for your great work as part of the study committee and for the leadership that you've provided after. it took a very long time to get the report under way so it is satisfying to see the actual product and to hear you all talk about the recommendations and the report. one of those recommendations, i am pleased to see, we are hopefully in the process of actually accomplishing. there's language in the defense authorization bill for an isis detainee coordinator which is something that's recommended in the report and hopefully that will get through without any trouble and i think it is sorely needed. last year when senator graham and i visited, we -- syria, we went to several isis detention facilities and asaka, anissa and manbidge and actually it was kabani and at that time it was estimated between 500 and 1,000 foreign fighters in the camps and today the number has jumped to over 2,000 and that doesn't include all of those folks who are in

nomination to challenge new hampshire democrat jeanne shaheen next year. he later tweeted out a formal announcement of his candidacy after asking for a five-minute recess. in new mexico, president trump falsely declared at a campaign rally monday that latinos support his border wall, proclaiming, "we love our hispanics." during the rally in rio rancho, trump pointed to steve cortes, a former paid on-air contributor at cnn and member ofof trump's 2020 campaign committee. pres. trump: he happens to be hispanic. he happens to be hispanic, that i've never quite figured it out because he looks more like a wasp than i do. more. loves the hispanics who do you like more, the country or the hispanics? he says the country. i don't know. i'm have to go for the hispanics, to be honest with you. we have got a lot of hispanics. we love our hispanics.

[applause] i had the opportunity to go back home to san antonio and to become the first in my family to be a professional as an attorney. and then enter public service and serve on the city

and i want to thank you in particular for sending jeanne shaheen and maggie hassan to the united statesenate. new hampshire knows how to elect some really strong women. shaheen: thank you. mr. president, for the past couple of weeks new hampshire and many other states across the country have been flooded with millions of dollars worth of dark money advertisements. these ads have been all over tv and social media. let me just be clear, they're not running just again -- they haven't been running just against me in new hampshire. they have been running against democrats and republicans in competitive races across this country. we've also had flyers jammed into mailboxes across new hampshire. i even got several of the fliers myself. this is an example of one. i'll read it in just a minute. but i want to point out that the goal of this campaign has been to stop congress from acting to address surprise medical bills. for example, this flyer makes the dishonest claim that addressing surprise medical bills would lead to hospital closures and doctor shortages. in fact, it says you can see, imagine if the care we needed wasn't there when we needed it the most. rate setting is a healt
