county board of supervisors has voted in favor of recounting the results of the mayoral race between shane tao and lauren taylor. you know, the alameda county registrar admitted to a mechanical error that affected votes in the oakland unified school district election. alameda county supervisor keith carson says they want to bring confidence back to the election. so they're going to recount recount. it will be done by hand and overseen by legal observers and representatives from both candidates. yeah. and the difference of votes between tal and taylor is pretty thin. it's only 677 votes and both sides say they do stand by this decision, a recount. >> when you look at a small margin of less than 2.5%, it seems and do a recount makes sense. >> here's the statement about we know this is before the decision. this is just the prospect of it. and you can see the shanks house said that if the board and registrar choose to do a hand recount to bring additional shirts that every vote was counted. she says i welcome it fully. and indeed it's going to happen. the county will pay for the recount. there's n

he says his boss, mayor shane tao, was wrong to place him on administrative leave, but that he does not blame her. instead he placed the blame on a man named robert warshaw. he is the federal monitor who has a role in overseeing oakland police. opd has been under federal supervision for more than 20 years because of a corruption case going back to 2003. so about four times a year, this federal monitor meets with city leaders of federal judge and civil rights attorneys to see whether oakland police is complying with those reforms that federal oversight was set to end this june. at this news conference chief armstrong and his attorney and oakland city council member noel gayo, said the federal monitor has a vested financial interest and making sure it doesn't end. this to me clearly is a last ditch effort to destroy the credibility of me destroy the credibility of this department and to make the community believe that again. opd is involved in some shady business and i've been through 10 police use already. and it's been the monitor that keeps making a one recent after another, like they
