i'm shanelle kaul in for anne-marie green. we begin this morning with an easter weekend storm that caused major havoc in california. part of scenic highway 1 along the central coast collapsed amid heavy rain saturday. part of the road was closed in both directions leaving people stranded near big sur. some had to sleep in their cars overnight. two people were killed when their single-engine plane crashed on saturday near lake tahoe in a snowstorm. the plane took off from denver earlier in the day. the two people killed were identified as former israeli professional soccer player and tech entrepreneur liron petrushka and his wife naomi. the ntsb is now investigating. >>> and a horse had to be airlifted to safety after getting stuck in the mud for almost 24 hours in a southern california river. officials there say the horse became separated from its rider and then ran off. the rider was okay. >>> and the same storm now threatening more than 35 million people in the middle of the country. today the risk of severe storms covers pa
