obviously such a key export market for shanghai. remember shanghai was down yesterday when everyone else was up. so it's continuing on its path. these other markets taking back a few of their gains yesterday. the nikkei down by .75% as was hong kong and also australia. i do want to focus on one interesting piece of corporate news and big moves on the stock as a start. the taiwan owner of the apple supplier foxcon is taking anbig stake in the electronics company sharp. they're putting $5 billion in the struggling japanese tv maker. they'll get a 46.5% stake in sharp products. that's a joint venture between sharp and sony. take a look at this. this is the share price of hon hai, performing very well in taiwan, getting up to the may high from last year. 4% gain, not too shabby at all. it was up to 6.5% at one stage. hon hai is good, but look at this. sharp corporation, really in the doldrums, getting a big, big hop today. 15.1%. the company is forecasting a $4 billion loss for the year, and its shares have been down 35% over the last 1

shanghai did terrible for a while but down 2.6%. this is the global commodity play, the global growth play. we had a couple firms out this morning, societe generale talking about growth in china this year. bigger copper company reporting declines. durable goods were disappointing didn't pick up from january's decline. that's an issue. there's another thing going on. besides the global slowdown, we're reaching the end of the quarter. a lot of pensions have quarterly rebalancing. if stocks have gone up 12% this month or this quarter with bonds flat to down, that means they've got to sell stocks and buy bonds to get back to say a 60/40 balance. that may be a factor. very tricky to call this. nobody putting out press releases about what they're buying and selling in the pension funds, but clearly that's an issue here. the i shares versus bond funds. s&p 500 and biggest bond fund out there. basically flat to down. that's what i mean about the rebalancing going on. a lot of speculation about when if anything all these people in bond funds
