shannon watts in san francisco, welcome to hardtalk. thank you for having me.t's a pleasure to have you on the show. you have had a powerful voice in the american political arena for the last decade and more, but you never sought elected political office. you chose to be an activist. why? i think you can in many ways get more done and not have to have a certain persona or act a certain way, or present yourself a certain way. and for me, you know, being in the trenches, organising women, really summoning their audacity and helping them find ways to have an impact on the political system, when in america we have very little political power as women, or at least have in the past, that has been incredibly rewarding. and, you know, people ask me all the time, "are you going "to run for office?" and the answer is no! i feel like i've been running for office now for 12 years in many ways, but i do get incredible joy from helping other women run for office and win. and it seems to be working. right, now, let's take it back to 2012, when you founded moms demand action i
