by the, way at the end of the night, joe biden, barack obama, john fetterman, josh shapiro. they will all be in philadelphia holding their final rally. all sorts of political power gonna be the keystone state. who's already in the keystone state? our own dasha burns. she's been covering this campaign. she joins us now from wilkes-barre, pennsylvania. dasha, tell us right now. three plus days from election. how each campaign is feeling about where this race fits? >> steve, you set it up brilliantly. you had on so many factors that we're hearing constantly on the ground here. look, i'm in luzerne county. this is an area that used to be, you well know, a democratic stronghold until it went for trump by double digits in 2016 in 2020. this is exactly the kind of area and blue collar county the democrats have lost because of that. they've got to win big in those collar counties around philadelphia, montgomery county, and those suburbs. that's also where arts had tried to chip away at fetterman 's lead there. he's been targeting suburban women in particular with a lot of messaging,

josh shapiro will be the next governor defeating john mastriano. and john fetterman is heading to washington after defeating mehmet oz in the high-stakes senate race. >> this campaign has always been about fighting, for anyone who's been knocked down and got back up. >>> nbc news correspondents rehema ellis is in -- in philadelphia tracking the races. fetterman and shapiro, both democrats, comfortably won their races. where did all the blue support come from? >> reporter: it cams from the people here in pennsylvania who decided that the candidates who were democrats were better prepared to represent them in elected office. consider this -- in terms of what the exit polls said about what pennsylvania voters were concerned about. 36% of them said abortion was an issue that concerned them, and that was above inflation which was at 29%. and both shapiro and fetterman were candidates who said they were concerned about a woman's right to choose. that was a deciding point for many of the people here in pennsylvania. aaron? >> and let me jump in. it's kate

look at this, shapiro over mastriano.s the republican incumbent there and voted to impeach donald trump and people were like how could you do that? but it seemed to pay off because look at this, john gibbs the republican candidate losing by 13 points. new hampshire, the senate race, this is another one. look at the margin, maggie hassen up by 10 points. some of the late polls had it close but maggie hassen with a double digit victory. one race it didn't work, the arizona governor's race we have not called anyone. kari lake is about 2 points behind katie hobbs. but that was the exception to the rule. new hampshire, the second district there. this is a race that is not close at all. look at annie custer. i once lived in that district and you can see right here, annie custer with a large lead over robert burns. double digits again. down to maryland's governor race. maryland is a blue state but obviously larry hogan, the incumbent republican governor, more towards the middle. republicans go a different direction with dan cox.

according to the nbc news decision desk, chef shapiro beat mastriano by more than 14 points. me now is jonathan capehart, host the morning show on msnbc, on who are spending a great deal of work with, over the last seven days. it has all been fantastic, jonathan. i'm glad for the time we had together. >> really fun. >> let me tell you this, i had a lot of people tweet on social media to say, velshi is one of the people whose out it was a bad strategy, and he has not apologized for it yet. i'm not apologizing for it, i think it's a terrible strategy, but it did work. i can admit the fact that it worked. my fear is elevating these boots, and something going wrong, and them winning. that is my complete fear about this. that you might have had, look at john fetterman, having a stroke right at the beginning of his campaign. he prevailed, but what would happen if he had not as a result of that, and the candidate whom democrats had encouraged had prevailed, like a doug mastriano? so i am just worried, when you allow these people a bigger platform, it could be dangerous? >> you know,

on the flip side, you look at fetterman and shapiro, shapiro, very strong candidate, fetterman runninglogical issues, maybe both. but voters are smarter than people give them credit for. >> when you talk about doug mastriano, though, this is someone who was involved in january 6th, helped getting bus loads of people there, if i'm not mistaken. josh shapiro, much more moderate in that state. not surprising this would be a scenario, perhaps, of a state with split ticket voters. >> well, sure. once you decide that doug mastriano is your nominee, it's not surprising at all. i mean, that's -- that's the issue. and so, you know, that's the problem, the -- josh shapiro is a good candidate, but could you have perhaps the former republican u.s. attorney in philadelphia who was a candidate in that race, i suspect he would have run significantly better than 42% of the vote statewide. he's someone who said he investigated, you know, the election and didn't find pennsylvania on the election. that led donald trump to support mastriano and not him, but you telling me he wouldn't have done better than

mastriano, a landslide for josh shapiro. and we are 33,000 votes apart in the senate race. so, people are going through, looking at these candidates and making -- van is probably going to be consoling me here. i'm a lot less often investech than i was at the beginning of this evening. but it is a night that is changing and we are going to see -- we talked about this as well -- with a number kevin mccarthy has. under 20? we talked about -- people thought they would be 30. >> right, right. >> i think if -- you take their ball and go home tomorrow. >> i'm sorry, go ahead. >> that big sound that you hear is democrats having a big sigh of relief across the country, because people woke up scare this morning. people said, my god, we've got these election deniers, we have got these people who are winking and nodding at insurrectionists. we have people that we are afraid of, if we they get in there and -- that was the fear this morning. >> i've got to say, van, you are the person -- [laughs] you are the person, for days, saying that

on the other hand, we have a democratic race in pennsylvania, where the democrat, josh shapiro is going to win and beat the republican, doug mastriano, who is an election denier and a candidate who has not been able to raise any money, and who is running in the most unconventional and unorthodox of campaigns. it's a terrible campaign and he's likely to lose there. and there are three very competitive house seats in pennsylvania that democrats hold, that could easily flip to the republican column. >> yeah, he's only been trying to appeal basically to the base. so i want to go back to the senate race, and the debate between fetterman and oz. i mean, we used to talk in politics about debates being the election turning point, then the conventional wisdom sort of changed, and, you know, people thought it was kind of an exaggeration, but do you think that in this case, it might actually have played a huge role, after all, fetterman was leading in the polls until after that debate. >> yeah, the debate was a disaster for john fetterman. we all sympathize with him because of the stroke that he e
