sharon, what's that about? >> reporter: it's about the group coming here -- in fact i just spoke with the vice principal here at capuchino high school where the group is supposed to protest this morning. she says that some of the kids are afraid to come to school. she is still urged urging kids to come to school. she says there is going to be no counter protest. it won't happen on campus but according to the website the members of the westboro baptist plan to protest this morning at cap clean no high school. the group often referred to as a hate group has been protesting against homosexuals and military funerals across the country. they are an and pent church based in topeka. in missouri over the weekend, the group planned to picket the funeral of an american soldier who died in afghanistan but mourners blocked them out of the area by sheer numbers. on its website, the westboro group says, "god does not love everyone and it's not okay to be gay or to fornicate with anyone or thing you please." the protest group

sharon chin is in oakland... one victim was forced to >>> the hunted is on for two men who sexually assaulted three roommates. sharon chin is in oakland where one victim was forced to take the suspects home with her. sharon. >> reporter: yeah, juliette. police say it started as the woman was walking home here from the west oakland bart station saturday morning at about 12:30 a.m. two men came up to the 26-year- old woman near 11th and market street as she was walking along. one armed suspect robbed and sexually assaulted her and then forced her to take them to her west oakland apartment where they sexually assaulted and robbed her two roommates. those roommates aged 29 and 30. the men escaped. the woman called police. they went to the hospital, were treated and released. police are offering a $30,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the two suspects. phone number for the police department is (510)238-3641. now, so far, police said they don't have any description of the two men. they are relying on

sharon chin with changes the city is demanding from pg&e. sharon. >> reporter: allen, one thing is here making sure that these manhole covers don't fly off in the event of an underground fire. you can't tell the difference from the top but there are two new ones somewhere in downtown san francisco and more to come. smoke and flames shot out of a tenderloin manhole last year and a transformer explosion blew off a kearney street manhole in 2005 burning a pedestrian. after these dramatic electrical fires, the city pressed pg&e to make changes to its aging electrical system, especially since inspections done beforehand apparently didn't reveal risk of explosion. pg&e already under fire in the deadly natural gas explosion and fire in san bruno says it's made safety improvements in the high voltage san francisco downtown system. pg&e says this week, it's begun replacing 125 downtown manhole covers with swivel lock replacements that don't blow off but pop up three to four inches to let gases escape. it's begun replacing 90 transformers, about 10% i

sharon chin explains the slight delay in this murder case. sharon. >> reporter: yeah, allen. no cameras were allowed. the suspects was only in court for about 2 minutes in the case that qualifies for the death penalty. the father, sister and ex- husband of 43-year-old kathleen horan arrived in court this morning nearly two weeks after she was killed after opening the door of her russian hill apartment to a man posing as a utility worker. the suspect, 43-year-old gary holland, shackled at the waist, bowed his head as a judge denied him bail but agreed to put off his arraignment for two days while the public defender's office assigns him a senior attorney. at the time of the crime he was on parole after serving 13 years for attempting to kill his stepmother with a knife in fresno. parole officers said he had completed a substance abuse program and had no violations. he hasn't had a psychiatric evaluation. >> i can't speculate on what defense they may use down the road but we are prepared to address whatever defense they put up and get this person convicted because he did it. >>

sharon chen joins us from san francisco to tell us what commuters were facing. sharon? >> reporter: the problem this morning was here in the tunnel at church and depose. it is the latest in a series of problems that muni has had in recent months. just after 7:00 this morning, muni reports problems with a switch. that piece of track that directs trains where to go. the switch going inbound to the subway was not running automatically and it is the busiest switch in the system and it affected inbound and outbound metro service for an hour and a half as the metro lines stacked up one behind the other and the passengers had to pile on to shuttles on market street. muni says there is a temporary fix in place but some regular muni riders say they have gotten used to muni delays a few times a week at this same location. >> it is like trying to go to work, it sucks. when i get off of work, i don't care, because you don't have to be really anywhere but it is the same old story going to work all the time. >> you're dealing with muni. if you don't leave two extra whole hours someti

sharon chin with what we learned about the suspect so far this afternoon. sharon? >> reporter: first of all, they're saying that this was not a random attack. the suspect was a neighbor of the victim, and police have issued a state-wide alert for 27-year-old omar sosa of berkeley. they believe he is now out of the bay area, headed toward mexico, and he is suspected of raping a girl in her bedroom after a 6:00 a.m. saturday. he apparently forced his way in through an unlocked window of the evelyn vete home. and police say the girl provided information that allowed them to put out a warrant 18 hours later. police say the suspect was a neighbor but had no relationship with the victim. he faces charges that include rape, sexual battery, false imprisonment and burglary. >> so the specifics about the actual assault were not going -- we're not going to go into that out of respect for the investigation and out of respect for the victim herself and the family. however, we do know that this is not a quick incident that occurred, you know, within a couple of minutes. this was

sharon? >> reporter: good morning.s morning and is expected to be arraigned this morning at san francisco superior court. that will be at 9:00. gary scott holland faces charges of murder, burglary, robbery and attempted rape. prosecutors say the 43-year-old man allegedly posed as a utility worker to get inside a woman's apartment last month. he was on parole for a 1999 attempted murder conviction in fresno. police say he claimed he was checking on a gas leak when 46- year-old kathleen horan opened the door to her russian hill apartment. officers say she was robbed and killed, and he was arrested at a park a week later. district attorney kamala harris says holland preyed on people's fears of gas leaks after the san bruno pipeline explosion. >> this defendant was a true predator and put himself out in a position of trust to this victim so she wanted that door. -- so she opened that door. any one of us would have done what she did that day. and in the end, what we know is that this predator is going to pay the price for h

good morning to you, sharon. >> reporter: good morning.of minutes ago police investigators took the suspects's car and left the scene t all ended here on east 25th and highland. earlier this morning the car chase ended with three suspects arrested. a police dog with the emeryville police helped nab the third suspect. they were hunting for suspects at a robbery at jean street in santa clara at 1:15 this morning. when the car sped off, officers chased across the bay bridge into san francisco at 1:30 a.m. then the car turned around and drove back across the bridge. into oakland. the chp used a pursuant intervention technique to stop the car. authorities caught the three suspects in a residential neighborhood on east 25th and highland. now investigators are checking to see if they are linked to several robberies overnight in oakland. this morning, police say that a victim in the robbery on jean street was able to positively identify one of the suspects in a line-up. >> thank you, sharon chin in oakland. >>> 5:31. more chilling testimony could
