reporting live in morgan hill i'm sharon, nbc bay area news. >> thanks a lot, sharon. speaking of the roadways this morning, we're getting ready for the major storm expected to hit the bay area here this weekend. a lot of snow up in the sierra. the wip ter weather has already created some problems up there. our crews in fact were there last night when interstate 80 was shut down completely stranding drivers. it has since reopened this morning. people are traveling through. nbc's brian hickey is off interstate 80 for us. >> reporter: traffic is moving again after interstate 80 was shut down for much of yesterday and well overnight. they finally got it open. 1:45 this morning they started allowing passenger cars and big rigs to make their way back over donner summit as cal trans needed that extra time to literally dig out the freeway. the road was shut down as it was looking more like a ski run than freeway. they used the overnight hours to clear the flood drains and up higher got snow plows to clear it out. today things looking much better. snow levels overnight, report
