sharon katsuda, today in the bay. >>> thank you for the very latest. two people are injured after flames aoe resuerupted at an ap building. >> i understand you have an update on what firefighters think caused this. >>> yes. good morning to you. they may have been related to an electric blanket. new information this past half hour that may have been a blanket next to a wall heater. of course it is still under investigation. three-story. the fire is fully contained. as you mentioned two people had minor injuries. we don't know if they were transported to a hospital. they were related to smoke inhalation. there were reports of smoke coming from the first floor. now they are telling us that it was a blanket next to a wall heater that may have caught on fire that led to this apartment fire. there are 12 units inside. half of them damaged as a result of the fire. they are still trying to determine how many people were inside. here's a firefighter explaining the importance of keeping blankets next to your heaters during the winter season. >> this time of year

"today in the bay's" sharon katsuda is live. how's it looking? >> pretty bad. we saw a cal trans heavy truck pull up to try to help move this mud slide. the detour is still here. people being turned around here on pacifica highway one. the mud slide came down just before midnight. caltrans says this mud slide is about 15 feet tall, covers the entire right lane of highway 1 near reyna delmar avenue, in pacifica. you can see by the size of it, it will take a while and a lot of heavy equipment to clean it up. drivers are having to take a detour down to half moon bay. >> i just was going to fill up with gas. i've got to get to my starbucks. >> reporter: to northbound lanes are down for now. for those wanting to head to san francisco, you'll have to head down to 92 and back to 280. >>> coming up, yosemite closed to visitors. it has flooding that's keeping winter campers from enjoying the outdoors. we'll be back here in two minutes. bay -- looking live at golden gate bridge this morning -- >>> welcome back to "today in the bay" on this monday morning. taking a live l

sharon katsuda live with preparations under way today just in preparation for all this. good morning, sharon. >> good morning, laura. we are seeing a lot of homeless out here near the guadalupe river. we don't want to shine the bright light on them. you can see the rising water levels. we're told homeless shelters are opening more beds tonight but it is on a first come, first sevened basis. we have seen accidents, drivers losing control. tow truck operators helping drivers get out of trouble. creeks could rise to flood levels. falling trees and mudslides. local reservoirs are getting to full capacity. yesterday it was 76% full. this morning it's 97%. the uvas was 79% and now it is at 99%. back here live again. we will keep a close eye on the flooding. and you can see right now water rushing through the guadalupe river. that is the concern for this weekend. ways you can prepare at home for this weekend's storm definitely stock up on batteries, food water. experts say it's going to be a bad one. stay home if you don't have to travel. >>> thank you very much. as you mentione

reporting live in pacifica sharon taka katsuda. >> a lot of folks were late to school and work. flooding across the bay area shutting down several busy highways as sharon mentioned. we're also talking about 101 in gilroy, 17 in the santa cruz mountains. of course that 1 in pacifica. >> mike's been busy tracking roads all morning long. mike, i like all the green there. >>> much better now. i was working hard, but you were on highway 101 in the weather, kris. thank you for being out there and for being here now. over here is what sharon was talking about. highway 1 in pacifica. don't know when they'll fully open the roadway because the mud, the dirt and rocks keep slipping down the hillside, a mudslide. so there's still traffic control there. you saw it in the shot. this is the slower drive north out of pacifica toward 280 around reyna del mar. folks trying to avoid the area, you've got a lot more driving to do. south toward half moon bay, 92 to 280, not so bad as far as traffic flow but more than we usually see this time of day and a lot more mileage. 17 has traffic restrictions a
