shawn, welcome to the war room. >> thank you for having me back. >> jennifer: you bet. is a link between money and politics and voter participation. how is your experience with the campaign to legalize gay marriage nationwide informed you're approach in the fight for campaign finance reform? >> well, there are certainly unique issues. there are a couple of similarities. when trying to tackle a big issue in this country you have to work both at the state level and federal level. it requires momentum and requires very often that dual work of state and federal work. we're absolutely seeing that in the marriage equality work and we need to see that more in the campaign finance reform work. i think it's important that we have a single issue focus which is why i alarmed protect our democracy. i need to make sure that there are people waking up every morning saying how are we going to fix this problem of money pouring into our political system. beneath to wake up and make sure we do everything we can to make this system better. >> talk about what you guys are doing in new york
