first alert meteorologist sheena parveen here with what you can expect tonight. >> yeah renee and keith, so for tonight we'll stay cool a little rainy and cloudy but the big story that will come tomorrow we have a first alert weather day for tomorrow afternoon and evening. we'll expect severe thunderstorms for a short period of time with strong gusty winds, lightning and heavy rain for a brief period of time too, and the potential for some hail. so first alert is out for that and the storms right now are well off to the west and southwest. a lot of severe thunderstorm watches and tornado watches out west and this line of severe storms, as you see, will be moving later in the day tomorrow and for now that we're looking at cloudy conditions and the center city and overcast skies and we'll keep this in the forecast, and we stay cool or chilly i guess you can say, showers moving in and temperatures staying right around 40 degrees and we see the temperatures rise through the day and some areas near 80 degrees and those strong thunderstorms move in and coming up, i'll show you the timing on t

sheena parveen is here with what we can expect. >> i think one of the main threats tomorrow will be high winds. severe threats through part of the day. the first alert is out mainly for tomorrow afternoon and tomorrow evening. so we have a threat for some severe thunderstorms. strong gusty winds will be the main issues and the potential for hale rather tomorrow. a few showers in lancaster and burkes counties. but the severe weather that is still around chicago in areas south and west of tennessee and nose are all tornado watches and thunderstorm watches. that is where the severe whether it is and that will be in our area at least some of it later in the day tomorrow. scattered showers around to start your morning commute. we don't expect anything in the morning. temperatures by the mid 40s. through the afternoon, areas close to 80 degrees when we see that line of thunderstorms developing. that will be around the time of the evening commute. some of these storms could be severe. that is straight ahead. >> all right, sheena for the latest on the changing forecast tune in to n brk c 10 tomo

sheena? >> that's right. the low humidity today and we still have it now. and with the breeze in place, we have a red flag warning, mostly areas north and west of philadelphia. all of lehigh valley pocono chester, montgomery bucks county. every county shaded in pink here. this basically means that until 7:00 p.m. tonight, there are critical fire conditions out with relatively low humidity around 15% to 20%. also breezy again, until about 7:00 p.m. and our wind direction is basically pushing any smoke toward new jersey in that direction. take a look at the relative humidity right now. we're around 15% to 20% currently. this is fairly low, it is very dry out, made for a nice day. this is not good when it comes to any wildfires or brush fire. and this evening, the winds will continue in from the northwest blowing into the southeast. right now around 10 miles an hour sustained gusting, closer to about 15. so we are going to keep those red flag warnings in the forecast until about 7:00 tonight. ot

. >> nbc10 first alert meteorologist sheena parveen is tracking it all. when did the storms move out for good? >> for good would be later on this evening, but for parts of the area already north and west lehigh valley, shouldn't expect any more. depends where you are, though. i think after 7 p.m. 8 p.m. we should be in the clear. here's what the radar looks like currently. we still have heavy showers around and still those high winds. we've seen winds gusting near 40 miles an hour today, even higher with any storms around. so, near haverford near 76 across philadelphia moderate to heavy rainfall. this is also in parts of new jersey moving into bensalem. mt. laurel seeing heavier rain. some precip rates have been three-quarters of an inch per hour. the storms are moving pretty quickly. also in medford lakes, tabernacle we're seeing moderate rain too. this is moving to the northeast. bensalem moving into that area right now. bristol by 5:13. falls by 5:21. that is where that rain is moving to. we've seen quite a few storm reports. >>> center city philadelph

. >>> let's go to sheena parveen. are we at risk of seeing more brushfires tomorrow? >> there's always a chance when we have dry air around which we will have around tomorrow but the critical risk that was more of today. so this afternoon, today at 3:00 p.m. we had relative humidity around 15 to 20%, that's a critical area where we saw the fire danger and as we go into tomorrow, the humidity is not expected to be that low. so maybe in about 25% or so but most of the area a little higher than that. so that would help things. that's all going to be -- and because of a change in wind direction, that will usher in a little more moisture either way, we are going to stay dry tomorrow afternoon. by 8:00 in the morning, 52 degrees, mostly sunny, as we get closer to 10:00, upper 50s, by noon we expect to stay dry. 63 degrees, and we'll still be warm as we go through the day. rain before the weekend gets here, i'll show you the timing of that coming up. >> this is new video into nbc10 of the small aircraft that caused quite a stir in our nation's capitol today. it's called a gy

sheena will have an update on that tonight as we watch the winds hour by hour. lot of sunshine today. compared to yesterday. and the moisture, well, it's back to the west. there's going to be a storm developing, but that's going to track south of us. so high pressure gets close to us. that's what causes the wind to go down. and then this tracks to the south, but will be on the northern edge of that rainfall. so saturday night and into sunday morning, delaware and perhaps cape may county, best chance of seeing a little bit of rain. and then it moves out. and then the cold air starts to come back and we can see some showers on monday, but not that kind of steady rain that some areas could get saturday night, sunday morning. farther south you are. and if you're traveling down toward washington it's definitely going to rain. mostly clear with freeze and frost in the area 34 for the low in philadelphia, 28 in some of the coldest suburbs. tomorrow, a lot less wind not as cold a lot of clouds around though. and then the 7-day forecast saturday night, sunday morning, th

let's talk to nbc10 first alert meteorologist sheena parveen. what can we expect tonight? >> for the rest of tonight, we can expect more rain. then you'll notice temperatures quite a bit cooler come tomorrow morning. here's a live look across center city. looking at the top of the aramark building. flags are blowing. it will be breezy tonight and breezy tomorrow too. there's rain very close now. it's in parts of lower montgomery county moving into philadelphia across 76. norristown starting to get rid of the heavier rain. it is moving into lower marian and we're seeing heavier showers across the pa turnpike and these will continue moving into philadelphia soon here. also some scattered light to moderate rain from about camden county all the way to the shore, including parts of burlington county. the rain's going to stay in the forecast for the rest of the evening. we have a few more showers off to our west but the wet pattern is really going to stick around for the next few days. so, we're not going to see any big changes once we're locked into this pattern, until we get c

sheena, what can we expect tonight? >> well really depends where you live. some of you won't see the rain for the rest of tonight and others of you still seeing the rain that will be continuing. here's a live look out at center city right now, overcast skies. and we could still see maybe a few areas of drizzle or light rain in philadelphia. but it really is just to the south through all of delaware and parts of south jersey. that's really where the bulk of the moisture is. and i think that's really where it'll stay as we go through tonight. so some more rain around washington still has to move through before we actually clear out. but a closer look showing us the mostly light rain shown by the green here. sussex county right around mils borrow seeing moderate rain. it's just been pretty steady. temperatures where the rain is, that is much cooler. mid to low 50s 52 in dover. but where we've seen the clearing earlier today, maybe not sunshine at least drier conditions allentown, 63 degrees, 63 northeast philly. for tonight, temperatures will start to cool down
