representatives sheila jackson lee. >> good afternoon, everyone. and thank you to our chair for this roundtable which i believe is extremely important. let me very briefly put some numbers in the record that obviously need updating. but it shows you in comparison of the devastation that our and mates are facing. in late april, 620 federal inmates and 357 bop staff confirmed positive results for covid-19 nationwide. they have indicated about 50 plus have died. as a comparison in the state of texas, 44,000 were tested and 2455 were found to be positive. in our juvenile facilities, we have found that there has been very limited testing. 70% of incarcerated youth are nonviolent but a number of them have been found to be covid-19 positive. i want to raise the question of how these facilities are dishes and how they are devastating for individuals who are human beings. that is the real question and why i was motivated to push for the testing of the harris county jail where 770 or tested and 300 were positive. i want to raise the question and say to ms. c
