my undstanding from sheila jager is that she did not return any call or message fr david maraniss. so i was left with the impression that people had been told that there was a girlfriend named sheila, but they weren't certain for sure which sheila. i'm very happy that it took me until this point in time to finish this book in the way that i wanted to finish it, so that the public identification of sheila jager's decisive importance in barack obama's life took place only after barack had left the presidency, because i believe if sheila had been publicly identified in 2008 or 2012, i think the degree of paparazzi harassment she would have received, harassment that alex mcnear recounted to me experiencing when the maraniss book came out in 2012. so it's very much my hope that now post-presidency, sheila jager has received a whole lot less paparazzi attention that would have been the case. >> we'll go back to the estion about i thini remember you saying that he propod to her twice. >> oh, yes. >> and was involved with her after he started dating michelle. >> yes. barack and sheila begin
