shelley: tragedy in strafford today. a 62-year-old woman died after her kayak capsized on a choppy lake. wind gusts hit as high as 50 miles per hour in the water that community to understand the conditions. the town's fire chief says the rough conditions cost a local resident her life. around 3:00 p.m., his department received a call about a kayaker in distress. rescue crews rushed to the scene. >> unfortunately, we have located the kayak. it was empty. search-and-rescue. shelley: rescuers braved the water after they spotted a debris field. >> we had several fire departments out with inflatable ribs that are able to withstand the conditions of the lake. shelley: the chief was visibly upset as he described what happened next. >> and, we were able to find the victim. were not viable for life. shelley: the victim was a member of the lake community and the chief is urging people living on the water to avoid the lake when conditions are this bad. >> a lot of the people that live around bow lake seem to be pretty hardy individ

shelley: new hampshire's response. tom: the town of greenland is taking action making moves to , secure safe drinking water in case of any future contamination to the ground water. at issue is concerns about pfc.'s found in monitoring wells near the former coakley landfill. wmur's siobhan lopez has more on their request and who they want to pay for it. siobhan: the board voting unanimously to draft a letter to send to the coakley landfill group, asking that they pay for a new municipal water system to ensure all residents will have clean water. safety for the residents of greenland. siobhan: board vice chair kevin forrest says the town has been in constant contact with the coakley group since concerns first came up surrounding possible contamination from the coakley landfill. >> i think this is just our formal request that the coakley group provide the funding for the area to run water into that area there. siobhan: they will be requesting main to deliver municipal water to the neighborhoods closest to the former landf
