in this case, he wanted to place blame on president obama, even though as i believe shep smith at fox news was saying, it was actually putin who invaded crimea. it was esteemed a violation of international law by all members of the g7 and issued a joint clarification kicking out russia from the group and laying preconditions that russia would have to meet in order to come back into the group and that would include recognizing the sovereignty of ukraine and de-escalating in crimea which putin hasn't done. president trump wants to bring him hymn back into the organization without russia doing anything to atone for its misdeeds. if trump were to have russia come to the summit next year in the united states, that's an election year, presidential re-election year. as we've talked about on this program time and time again, the u.s. intelligence agencies have directly warned the president and the public that russia is trying, actively trying to interfere in the 2020 presidential election, just as they did in the 2016 presidential election to help trump win that election. and so that would be

here is shep. >> shepard: breaking news.notion that we are in a manageable trade dispute with china is now dispelled. this is a trade war. america just fired another shot and you are about to pay. the trade talks with the chinese effectively collapsed today. the president announced new tariffs today. the markets were treated today in a big way. the dow was up nearly 300 points. then the president tweeted about the new tariffs. that was 1:30 this afternoon. now the dow is down to 28. more than 500-point plunge. what does this mean? every single thing that china sells to america will be taxed.

this 800 points today, about 3% as shep pointed out. so what does this mean for us, for you? market watchers are here. hugh and lenoir. let me get your sense, lenoir, how bad this gets. i find it worrisome when we end the day at our lows. what do you think? >> yeah, really accelerated at the close, which is never a good thing to see. what had me worried, look what is going on in the bond markets. for example, what we saw with a 30-year treasury, as it hit an all time low. that happened when we're not getting terrifying headline. it's also happening at a time when the foreign purchasing are going down and the federal government is spending so much money that we need an additional trillion dollars a year to cover the deficit. so there's more borrowing but the government, fewer people buying the bonds and the interest rate is going down. we see that happen. the interest rate goes down when prices go up. so there's more and more buying at a time that really doesn't make sense. that session there's serious disruption. the other thing that i have been watching that has me concerned

here's shep. >> shepard: the moment is near.about to tell us more about the deadly mass shooting outside a bar there. the killer gunned down anybody people including his own sister before the cops took him down. yesterday after a briefing like the one a which you're looking now, the feds announced charges against a friend of the shooter. today we have no hints of any kind as to the details of the announcement we're about to get. so we wait. likely not for long. first, violence erupting in one of the world's busiest airports as protesters and riot's police face off in hong kong. as a pro beijing official says, demonstrators have taken the event into a path of no return.
