in the studio, sherrie johnson, abc2 news. >>> stranded passengers at newark airport should be finally going to their destinations after flights were grounded. when a man bypassed security. authorities were searching for the man sunday night, to be rescreened. passengers in terminal c. the tsa says the terminal was searched thoroughly to make sure no dangerous objects were there when passengers began boarding. they described this scene. >> it was a hoard of people coming out of the terminal c. got directed down here. and basically just waiting to see what we're supposed to do. if we're supposed to find another flight or stay here. >> waiting for them to open security so we can all go back through. as you can see it's absolute chaos. >> passengers waited six hours before being able to board their planes. garret security checked -- airport security checked the surveillance tape, still haven't found the man. they are searching for him this morning. >>> the high wind made it tough on firefighters and may have caused more damage to area homes. in some cases the wind caused the smoke and fir

. >> sherrie johnson is live to tell us what it is going to be like to leave town today. >> reporter: good morning. the u.s. government has issued new security rules for all airlines that fly into this country. immediately after the christmas day bomb attempt. the government ordered patdowns and extra luggage checks for all passengers on international flights to the u.s. today new measures narrow that down to those who may pose the biggest threat. passengers with passports from or who have traveled through countries that sponsor terrorism will have extra screening. many other passengers from aboard other airlines can also expect extra scrutiny on a random basis. the goal is to keep terrorists off a plane. >> you may see different threshold for what makes you a select or a no-fly. right now those are very limited. i suspect they will probably broaden those definitions. >> reporter: tsa is also buying more full-body scanners for use in the u.s. and adding more air marshals to flights. what is critical, tighter security at foreign airports. in the studio, sherrie johnson, abc2 news. >>>
