sherrie johnson joins us live in hamden with more. sherrie. >> reporter: well, yes, i have been on the phone with the fbi trying to learn more information about this case. and actually we are standing right in front of the royal farms on 41st street in ham den. -- hamden there. has been police presence all morning at times officers are sitting outside the royal farms or even driving by checking on things. the fbi is involved after a robber shot one victim at point blank range. take a look at this video of the suspect. captured on camera at royal farms store on west 41st street, a hooded figure entered the store in the wee hours of the morning. he demanded cash at gunpoint and steps around counter to grab the money and fires a warning shot as he leaves the store. all of this in less than 60 seconds agents say he is the same one who robbed a royal farms store on harford road two weeks ago and shot a customer who resisted giving up his wallet. word of this robbery put businesses on guard. >> i am here a lot by myself at night. doesn't ma

sherrie johnson has a look at what is next for the 17-year- old charged in the shootings as he heads to court today >> tj lane expected to appear in juvenile court for a pretrial hearing, happening while a mass will be held today for 16-year-old demetrious, one of the victims. prosecutors trying to limit the release of more information about lane. he is charged with three counts of murderer and felony assault in connection with the shooting a at the high school. police reports and court records show he had a troubled past. at 15, he was charged with juvenile assault for putting his uncle in a choke hold and punching him in the face. his parents were charged with domestic violence. his father served prison time for assaulting a police officer and charged with assault on another woman. lane lived with his grandparents. another hearing is scheduled for march 19th where authorities plan to discuss a motion to transfer the case to an adult court. sherrie johnson, abc2 news. >>> breaking news, police are investigating a shooting that left a child dead and a mother injured. the 24 year old

sherrie johnson is here with the new detail. i understand that you got brand- new information. >> reporter: that's right. we have -- we've learned that france's interior minister said that the gunman expected in the wave of killing has stopped talking to police and that authorities actually have been monitoring him for years. and we're just getting this information in. that raid is going on in france there. it's underway targeting that gunman. he's suspected in three shootings that killed three jewish school children, a rabbi and three paratroopers in recent days. the man has thrown his handgun out the window but he has other weapons on him, including an ak- 47 assault rifle. judicial officials said that the suspect's mother, his breath and a companion of the brother were detained for questioning. and the mother was brought to the scene but they say that she was of no help because she is of no influence to him. we're being told by france that a gunman suspected in the wave of killings has stopped talking to police. back to you.

abc2 news' sherrie johnson has more on what officers found when they entered the home. >> reporter: inside the home on lochary road officers found two dead animals, plenty of feces and stench but no food or water for the dogs and cats that survived. officers took a beagle which is now in the care of the humane society of harford county along with 15 cats. the animals will stay there until the investigation is completed. we were told that the owner, 55-year-old theresa lambert runs a beagle rescue. she had animals taken away last year but were returned to her with the understanding she would find most of them new homes. the officers may take several of the animals outside of the home in pens. >> people want to save everything they can save and it gets to a point where mentally they don't realize what they are doing. at that point it gets to a point where they are not helping the animals at all, they are actually hurting them. >> zoning regulations limit homeowners to five domestic animals in harford county unless the owner has a kennel license and she has no such permit. back to you. >>> th

sherrie johnson is here with all new details. what have you learned. >> reporter: well, yes, we have all new information this morning. the 13-year-old girl's name was monet turnage and her autopsy is expect to be performed today. body was found sunday at 6 p.m. in the 1600 block of cliffview avenue in baltimore. her body was covered with plastic trash bags. police say she had signs of trauma but they are not saying how she died. she was pronounced dead at the scene. family members reported her missing about 1 a.m. on sunday. she said she was going skating but never returned home. officers spent the the evening knocking on doors to get information in the northeast baltimore. the crime lab was on the scene looking for any clues to help in this investigation. >> for whatever reason, she was found out here. obviously she didn't walk out here by herself. and just die. so we are hoping that anybody with information, anody who may have seen anything suspicious anybody saw anybody carrying up the alley to give homicide detectives a call.

sherrie johnson joins us here in the studio with new information on the killing of a 17 year old and how the feds are getting involved. >> federal prosecutors and fbi have opened an investigation in to the killing of 17-year-old martin. the justice department says it will dispatch officials to florida to investigate and address tension in the community. martin was shot and killed by a volunteer, while walking back to his father's fiance's house. the parents say they believe race was a factor in their son's death. protesters gathered monday although the caught house in seminole to demand justice. this weekend, 911 calls were released. you can hear someone yelling for help. a voice analysis will be conducted to see who was yelling for help. neighbors called 911 to report a fight and heard gun shots. when police arrived , the teen was dead. he had no weapons, a bag of skitms and on ice tea he bought from a convenient store. zimmerman has not been charged. he told police he shot the teen in self defense. police have no evidence to refute his story. >>> we want to know what you think. we

education reporter sherrie johnson takes a look at the study to see how they're making a difference. >> reporter: here at the harbor school in owings mills, they are learning about fractions. they pride themselves on educating students and getting them ready for the real world. a survey shows 98.1% harford school graduates are working in post secondary education or vocational training. they were able to get information from 215 of the 299 graduates. >> one of our big pushes is soft skills employment. most employers can teach their employees to do things the employer's way. what causes people to lose their jobs is they don't show up on time or they don't show up or they're disrespectful to their supervisor or they don't know how to ask questions to get things answered. all of those are aggravating to an employer or don't flow how to work in a team. so we teach these soft skills. >> reporter: they have two campuses, annapolis and owing hoping. they serve children with autism, anxiety disorder, clinical depression and learning disabilities. >> one of the things about people with disabil

sherrie johnson is here with the details of what happened. >> it's a bargain that landed 41-year-old darlene early in trouble. we have new information. she has been suspended. the baltimore city detective faces administrative hearing to figure out if she will be paid during the suspension. i placed a call to the manager. seeria anderson , the cashier was fired. this happened on friday night, darlene walked up to the register in northeast baltimore and got quite a deal. she had 75% of her total bill knocked off, a charging document lists 60 items expensive baby formula, chicken wings, chicken breasts and sticks , the bill would have been $4400 but became to over 100 bucks. the police detectives daughter was behind the register. anderson is charged with theft and early is charged with attempted theft. a security officer was monitoring the check out counters and noticed the problem. >> they expect me to obey the laws but they are not obeying it. it was a bold move, but i don't condone it. >> attempted theft is a misdemeanor but a police spokesman says it's a question of trust. >>> the s

this news not sitting well with his family and sherrie johnson is here with reaction from his mother. what is she saying. >> reporter: the family is very upset by this whole thing. it's been going on for five years now. carroll county prosecutors have dropped reckless endangerment charges against five former juvenile facility staff members in the death of isaiah simmons e died in 2007. he was sent to the closed bollingbrook school in carroll county because he was found responsible for a robbery. the cobles were charged in connection with -- counselors were cadged in connection with restraining -- charged in connection with restraining him for more than three hours before he stopped breathing. they waited more than 40 minutes before calling 911 and the states attorney says there's several problems with the case. the lead investigator in the sheriff office faces allegation of a misconduct in a separate case and the prosecutor says that would make the testimony unreliable. but simmons' family attorney says lea no value on an african american male's life in 93% white carroll county. -- sa
