abc2 news sherrie johnson is here with more on the developing story. >> reporter: voters will head to the polls to cast the ballot on the ballot it's question 6 it tackles the issue of same sex marriage. maryland could become the first state to legalize same sex marriage through a ballot referendum if it passes. emotions are high on both sides and we caught up with folks at rock city church in towson during an all night prayer service. bishop spent time educating parishioners and urging them to vote against question 6. they collected more than double the number of signatures required to push it to a referendum. meanwhile governor o'malley says granting same sex couples a marriage lies seans civil right and marylanders should vote yesch the measure allows clergy to on the out of marrying same sex couples. >> you tell me what i do with my grandchildren when they seamen with boys and then a man goes -- see men with boys and then a man goes to jail because there's men with boys. >> proth it protects religious freedom. and every child's home called justice and fairness. >> reporter: voters

sherrie johnson is here with the latest in the details. what's going on. >> reporter: we spoke with fire investigators and we have learned that fire started about 2:30 this morning. we have all new information and video into the newsroom. when crews arrived in the 600 block of crane highway this glen burnie they found an auto repair store and vacant building fully engulfed in heavy flames. 63 firefighters battled that two alarm fire and they had a tough time trying to put out the fire from the outside. >> when the fire department was defensive the fire was through the roof and the roof caved in and biggest danger to firefighters is having a roof cave in for them inside. we put water from the exterior. >> reporter: fire investigators tell us that no one was injured in the fire. so far, there's no word on what caused it. sherrie johnson, abc2 news.>>> thanks giving is less than a week away and holidays will be here before you know it in looking for something to do to get into the holiday spirit, there are exciting things going on in downtown

. >> abc2 news' sherrie johnson takes a look at where this law stands and where it's going. >> reporter: well, the legislative session for 2013 begins in less than two months and there will be a push by some for medical marijuana in maryland. now supporters hope that this will accepted in colorado and washington state will actually help the bill's passage in annapolis. now bills that would have legalized drug for medical use stalled in annapolis in each of the past two years. the concern? federal enforcement. the head of the state's department of health and mental hygiene testified before a house and senate committee in march saying the legislation under consideration could place state employees at risk of federal prosecution for violating the law. but on election day, voters in washington state and colorado approved the recreational use of marijuana. it was already legal in those states with a doctor's prescription. now sarah would like to see maryland lawmakers make medical marijuana use legal. she suffers from multiple sclerosis and uses it to control her symptoms. >> i would really

sherrie johnson is live this morning in north baltimore. >> reporter: we are here in the 4600 block of york road in north baltimore. this water main break is causing quite a few problems for people. you know, crews have been working around the clocks trying to fix this 16 inch water main. you can see here they are still a busy working and they were waiting for a part earlier this morning but now they are back at work trying to get this fixed and we called dpw crews and i spoke to a spokesperson about 40 homes and businesss are without water this morning. officials with the department of public works say the break happened around 1 yesterday afternoon and people from victoria's ministries international had to be evacuated. public works officials say crews are work on getting all the debris out of the way so they can get the break to start the repairs. water was rushing by so quickly that people parked nearby barely had a chance to react. >> i came out and the water was so high it was breaching into the car. so, it's to move the car because i figured that it would be some kind of emergen
