>> shery, you're exactly right. it is dry season. flooding, well, it just doesn't happen all that often. and the problem is, well a lot of the farmers out here, they want the rain, but the timing is definitely way off. i'll show you some video coming out of northern india. now this is in the kashmir region where the heavy rainfall has devastated the growing of the wheat crop here over the past month. this is quite unusual. the monsoon typically doesn't pick in for this part of india until mid-july. the rain has been dampening the prospects of a large production this season. remember a lot of these farmers do depend on that rainfall being right on time. and it typically starts mid-july and you can still see the cloud cover across pakistan and into kashmir is that rainfall. now the rest of india, you are still looking at dry weather. clear skies out here. highs into the high 30s, to low 40s. so it is remaining rather dry down here towards the south. let's look farther towards the east, though, a different type of monsoon setting up int

>> yes, shery. we have been seeing is definitely these severe thunderstorms, large hail, damaging winds, and not just that but on sunday night into monday morning a few people out here in mississippi definitely were awoken, and it could have been worse to some very severe tornadoes. show you this video coming out of central mississippi. you can see a few homes here completely destroyed. now, at least three people have been injured by this. and surprisingly, it wasn't more than that. and good news, warnings were already in place ahead of it but you see some of those homes were just almost leveled. now, we are seeing that whole storm system continuing to track off there towards the east. and we're still looking at the threat of some severe thunderstorms, large hail, damaging winds, and potentially tornadoes. in northern parts of florida, and even extending out alone the eastern coast of the carolinas. but the main threat with this is still going to be the rainfall. and even after that tapers off, a lo

>> shery, right now it definitely is the damaging winds. we've already seen several reports of tornadoes. one of them there in central portions of mississippi causing some significant damage to a few homes out here. and the storm system has already brought that rough weather back here towards the west across texas. this past weekend. it's continuing to roll off towards the northeast. if you are in the southeastern u.s. all the way from mississippi, alabama, over there towards the carolinas, you definitely want to be ready for these severe thunderstorms. it's not just the hail, and the damaging winds, which have already been occurring and definitely there's a high risk of that, but also these tornado watches are still in place. that's going to continue to work its way off towards the east in the next 24 hours. so here's your monday outlook here. severe thunderstorms there. even in parts of northern portions of florida. you can see these storms move in. but it's not just that severe weather threat which is with this cold front pushing through

>> well, shery, weekend is perfect to do cherry blossom viewing. but tonight is not good because severe weather could happen. we could see some tornadoes, as well as hail and thunderstorms. now, before showing some severe weather video i want to talk about this. usually the cherry blossoms start to bloom in march 26th in tokyo. this year, one day earlier than that. and last year, it was about ten days earlier than seasonal, but back in 1984, the flowers didn't come out until april 11th. the timing is depends -- the timing depends on the strength of the winter and the warmth in spring. but this year, warm spring has arrived suddenly followed by cold winter. now across the area, colored in vivid pink cherry blossoms are already blooming. the cherry blossoms will slowly make its way toward the north, reaching hokkaido by may 10th. look forward to the nice weather if you're in the northern areas. again severe weather is happening over the southern parts of -- southern half of japan, so not good to do some hanani. we have some video to show you of sever

>> shery, you probably shouldn't be. now the conditions over the next several days, they will be improving out here. this is following some very heavy rainfall the last several days. some areas in to the city have seen upwards about 300 millimeters of rainfall. you can see here based on satellite imagery, just along the eastern slopes of the andes, some of where those showers did occur out here and that is upwards about 200 to 300, and did cause that very severe flooding here on tuesday. we actually have some video coming out of here, where that heavy rainfall did come down. most of this in the period of about 90 minutes. all this water being seen flowing out there in the streets, and the canals. now it wasn't just the heavy rainfall that is being flamed for this flooding. of course, that had a lot to do with it. but also recent construction work is being blamed for clogging up some of these drains and causing those rivers to flood into the roadways. now, homes have also been affected. but thankfully, no deaths have been
