>> yes, shery. yes and no on that same system reaching over towards japan, but what we are going to be seeing is it really wrapped up with the rainy season as we head through mid-week. western japan, even tokyo, showers are coming this way. now, what we're talking about is our tropical storm hagidas. it made landfall sunday afternoon there into southeastern china. we actually have video out of there just showing the flooding and that rainfall that took place here as the storm came ashore and brought some high waves, heavy rain, about 83 kilometer per hour wind gusts as well. over 140 millimeters of rain fell there in the city. also into taiwan off towards the east, we saw some pretty heavy rainfall and flooding and landslides reported there as well. so a lot of people were impacted by this storm system. now, what we are going to be seeing is a track off there towards the north. it's getting wrapped up with that rainy season front. still another 120 millimeters is very likely across parts of fujan ov

zbr hello, shery. we had some very high rain reports in a good portion of the kanto region because of the afternoon thunderstorms popping up over the area. you can see here in the satellite perspective where the clouds really just popped up in the most recent frames. let me show you some video. i'll tell you how much rain we saw. in saita prefecture, we saw rain totals around 110 millimeters during an hour-long period. you can see here the rain in tokyo where people had to really hang on to their umbrellas because rainfall was quite heavy, and it looks like that we're going to be seeing a lot more rain as we go throughout the next couple of days. on top of the heavy rainfall, we also saw 8,400 houses in the kanto region that lost power because of the intense storms that moved through the area. and the reason why we're seeing the storms is because high pressure is driving in cold air into the higher areas of the atmosphere. when the warm air down on the ground level starts to rise up that's when we see

>> shery, you're right. we have been seeing the last several days is these showers really kicking up across kyushu, rainy season officially starting there. i would not be surprised if we go ahead into thursday and friday if it does start into tokyo and much of the kanto region. we have this very large low pressure system pushing overhead and it is dropping an abundance of rain fall. miyazaki prefecture we've seen upwards of 395 millimeters of total rain fall. other locations about 300 millimet millimeters. this low is going to continue to work off toward the east so into tokyo and the kanto region basically starting on thursday and extending out through the weekend, have a umbrella ready because the showers are going to continue to persist, very rainy season like. and that's going to be one of the major problems with this 237 just that persistent rainfall. hokkaido you remember earlier this week you've been battling the heat. it's still fairly hot out here and we have upper level cold air, once you get that

>> shery, it typically actually lasts for about a month here into the tokyo metro area. you're right, it really is starting to rain out there. the next 24 hours showers going to continue to come down. as far as the rainy season is concerned we see those showers day in and day out. typically it's quite heavy, but not as heavy as what we've actually seen in the past 24 hours for kochi prefecture. record breaking rainfall into shokoku. mia prefecture say 50 millimeters in a one hour span. we actually have videos coming out of there. that's what 50 millimeters looks like for a one hour span. heavy rainfalls in owasse. during the rainy season japan becomes very accustomed during the heavy rainfall continues to occur. let's take a look at the forecast. next 24 hours we'll take a look at those showers continuing to push off there towards the northeast. tokyo metro area, you could see as much as 100 to 150 millimeters of rainfall going through your friday. that rain on top of already saturated grounds, there is that threat of flooding, even some landslides here. also strong wind

i'm shery ahn. a bomb has torn through a venue in northeastern nigeria where fans had gathered to watch a world cup soccer match. at least 13 people, including young children, have been killed. the explosion happened in the town of damaturu, capital of yobe state. reuters news agency quoted witnesses as saying an attacker dropped a device in front of the venue on tuesday night before running off. no one has claimed responsibility for the explosion. the surrounding area are at the heart of an insurgency by extremist group boko haram. >>> al qaeda linked islamist militants are pushing closer to baghdad. they're locked in fierce fighting with iraqi troops, and they're using the country's second largest city, mosul, as their stronghold. militants are battling to take control of baquba about 50 kilometers north of the capital. they fired mortars at a police station on the outskirts of the city. sunni extremists have advanced in areas where many sunnis live, but baquba has large numbers of shia residents
