[applause] >> i want to talk to you a little bit. everyone has asked the question, why mit? i want to take you through what my process was in doing that. what i knew i was going to face as governor was unemployment problems. it was economy problems. it was bag balancing our budget and dealing with the spending and trying to find a way to prioritize it. i had no idea that the hardest part about being governor would be the federal government. it all started with the great company we have in south carolina called boeing. [applause] the national labor relations board saw we created jobs at a time we needed it. at the same time they expanded 2,000 jobs in washington state. not one person was hurt. but president obama allowed the nlrb to stop production. they removed that one now. we're free of that one. [applause] you know i ask every president in the presidential to acknowledge

[applause] >> good morning. what a great honor to be here any bigger thrill to introduce our next speaker. he took south carolina last saturday. and then there were three. mitt won new hampshire. newt gingrich won south carolina. then there were three. all eyes are here on florida, again. [applause] if we have to describe our next speaker, one word would be "leadership." newt gingrich understood as a young -- and a young age that he would dedicate his life to serving his country. that he is done exceptionally. he is best known for being the architect for the contract of america that in 1994, the republican party to gain a majority in the united states house of r

and he said, shh, there's still time.at's kind of how we felt at the end of the eight years. but, again, very difficult decisions the president had to make in order to prevent a repeat of the depression of the 1930s. so i think those were probably the -- >> it's, obviously, a hard question, ken, and there are different kinds of hard decisions. i think the decision, the decision a president has to make to send american servicemen and women into harm's way is the hardest decision almost by definition. it's a tremendous personal responsibility to ask people who volunteered to defend their country to put their lives at risk. and i know, you know, being involved in the president's decision, ultimately to intervene in kosovo, was something that weighed very heavily on him. he was persuaded it was right, but he had to continue to ask himself, will i be able to look into the eyes of their loved ones, the families, their wives, their children because you can't assume that you're not going to lose -- we were fortunate we didn't, bu
