they will not make it in time, though, for the battle of shiloh.they will get there like, i believe, two or three days after the battle. i would love to have known what would have happened if 10,000 men that cross the river would have been without johnson in the battle of shiloh. but what they bring with them -- this is just a personal interest note of mine. they do bring the missourians, the former state guard, the militia, if you will from missouri. which turned out to be some of the finest combat troops in the vicksburg campaign later. if you ever want to see heretic heavy lifting, you look at john bowen's division in the pittsburgh campaign. there is a reason those missourians are called on. okay, anyway, he goes back across, they missed that, in the meantime, though, president davis is not happy about the vicksburg, mississippi situation. new orleans has fallen by now. if you know your civil war history, i'm about to deep dive, here man's full lowell has retreated from new orleans -- up to vicksburg, and jefferson davis doesn't trust him with

albert sidney johnston was viewed as a first tier quickly at shiloh. lee is obviously the best the considerably has. lee is a man of stature and reputation they are towering, dominating -- his folders a very high morale. they do not believe he can be defeated, nor they could be defeated. which will serve them in good stead. they are quite good! lee had put together quite a winning team. one advantage that lee have had in putting together a winning team in the army of northern virginia is that lee knows how to handle jefferson davis. when li wants an officer transferred out of my army, he's not getting the job done! davis will let him do it. lee has to do it right. he asked you some tact and some finesse but he knows how to do that and he can get it done. lee has the team that he wants there in virginia. he well, he doesn't have stonewall jackson because he's dead. he would've liked to have had him. otherwise lead gets the officers. once they are there in virginia he is a very good team, and man, the army is all set. it was totally unrealistic for grant
