our washington correspondent trevor shirley has the details on the new set of furry diplomats from bejings a big deal in the last 3 pandas were sent back to china 11 months ago. and questions lingered over whether or not china would loan out any others to the u.s. given the current state of u.s. china relations. >> this is video of the pandas plane landing here in the u.s. they're inside those crates. you can see being offloaded from that jet. the pair arrived in washington aboard a special fedex flight earlier today, the pandas named bally and king bow with living in a research facility in southeastern china. china claims as its own property. all pandas, even those born outside of china, given the current state of u.s. china relations, it was unclear whether or not the chinese communist party would loan any more pandas out to the u.s. after the last 3 were sent back to china 11 months ago. the new deal is part of a 10 year agreement with china for the pandas to stay at the smithsonian national zoo here in washington. >> terms of the new agreement were not made public, but under the previ

i'm trevor shirley. well, more political news this morning this year, while much of the attention is on the race for the white house. >> closer to home. the 2024 election could result in some big changes for the state legislature. the california legislature is one of the most powerful branches of government with 80 assembly members and 40 senators all who are responsible for deciding in approving state policies. but come this november, we may see a significant turnover who exactly makes those policies as a significant amount of new members are set to be elected. >> over 30 new legislators will join the california assembly and senate come december. the second out of 120 legislators. that's more than a quarter of the legislature will be entirely new individual. >> well, this comes as the legislature as of today is made up of more than 2 thirds democrats, which officially gives him a super majority, meaning they can pretty much past whatever they want without having to reach across the aisle and compromise
