the human space flight program can blaze a path for siemens in outer space. -- for humans in aerospace. its inspires young people. we have seen it that affects -- that effect. but i think it shows to the world what the american people can accomplish with our system of government and our system of free enterprise. and all of this cost less than a dime a day per citizen. one could say a great deal can be done with robots. but there are things robots cannot do. i cannot imagine our robot that could have made the robot -- the hubble space program. does anyone remember the name of the first robot that step on the moon? launching into the top of everest is different than sir edmund hillary climbing to the top of everest. i was asked to make a few brief comments on the space flight program as a whole. a few may pertain to the. i would cite just five. we concluded that nasa was being asked to accomplish grand goals and not been given resources that matched those goals and that is a very dangerous thing to do, particularly in space. with said it was very likely we would lose another shuttle. sa
