heavy snow out toward the sierra. right now the local radar not showing much, in fact, a few showers to the south of morgan hill. as far as the rain totals take a look at those over the passed 24 hours. in fact, pick up most of the rain between 5:00 and 7:00 this evening. you can see mill valley 0.32. look at san francisco just over a quarter of an inch at 0.28. san jose at 0.03. here is the latest on the satellite radar. that is the system responsible for the clouds and the cooler temperatures and the heavier rain we had earlier today. it is moving out to the east. with that we have a change in the weather pattern tomorrow. coming up let you know which way temperatures are heading to are your sunday. and the one area that could have winds gusting to over 30 miles per hour. >>> two people are being treated at a hospital tonight after their suv went down an embankment in the north bay. the accident happened at around 4:30 this afternoon in petaluma. a woman in that suv had to be pulled 40 feet up the slope in a rescue

over towards the sierra, snow levels close to 5,000 feet. so the story is we'll continue to see the showers, which is actually a little bit of good news if you have allergies. these numbers are unusually high for this time of year. grass pollen, olive and cedar. if you have been sneezing a lot, that's why. some of these showers, short term, are some good news. lingering showers into the south bay into tomorrow morning. by the afternoon, notice how things start to dry out. north winds will start to turn gusty. should dry out our skies and clear things out a bit. come monday, memorial day, more clouds. but rain will likely hold off probably till late monday evening and monday night. most of it to start towards tuesday morning aimed in here on the north bay as we see yet another chance of showers rolling in. looks like this pattern really not going anywhere for a while. there you see all the snow in the sierra. could get as much as 10 inches of snow above 7,000 feet. then things clear out heading into sunday and monday. more showers approaching

they are going to make a 3.8- mile climb up sierra road. it's going to start at 9:30 this morning at the intersection of sierra road and barnard court in the east san jose foothills. so you can try it yourself at least for a little while. >> but the big question, will the weather hold up for all these racers? lawrence? >> come on, lawrence, get it together. >> the least i can say they are not going to overheat. they don't have to worry about that today. we have showers around the bay area right now. you can see in toward brentwood and antioch some good cells that are rotating on through here but becoming more widely scattered as we head through the day today. we are going to even see sunny breaks in between the clouds today so looks like things will dry out a little bit and looks like high pressure is going to start to sneak over in the next couple of days. a lot of leftover moisture. most of that headed up to the sierra nevada where they were looking at upwards two of feet of snow across some higher peaks. that is amazing for this time yea

the sierra, the snow continues to fly.ed forecast projections for twin bridges and kingvale, 6 to 13 inches of snow here as we wrap up the weekend. that's just unbelievable. snow levels close to 4,000 feet tomorrow morning. most intense showers right now heading off east of sacramento towards rancho cordova. the bay area, though, starting to see those northwest winds picking up which should also shut down the showers tomorrow morning but we will see those gusts in some of the coastal hills maybe getting close to 35 miles per hour. so into tomorrow afternoon, should see some clearing. again, maybe lingering showers around the south bay. memorial day monday, increasing clouds, increasing chance of showers heading into monday night for the north bay. this is going to be the trend for the middle part of the week. the systems aiming in showers along the coast. especially for the north bay as we head into tuesday afternoon. no signs of seeing 80s in the forecast for quite some time. there you see the snow in the sierra starting

my name is sue vaughn and i'm here speaking on behalf of the sierra club. the sierra club urges the san francisco planning commission to recirculate the treasure island -- the e.i.r. for the following reasons -- the project has changed substantially since it was initially approved by the treasure island development authority and the san francisco board of supervisors in 2006 and then updated in 2010, and then changed also earlier this year. to the sierra club finds that the amount of allowable parking is far too high. residential parking should be no more than one space for every two units. and in fact, caltrans wrote a letter to the planning department yesterday noting that the san francisco-oakland bay bridge is already at capacity and no funds have been identified to undertake the multi-use project that would say lao people coming and going from the -- allow people coming and going to and from the island. the transit agency to the planning department dated august 20, 2010, notes that the project will create significant and unavoidable queuing at the appr

the sierra starts to melt all at wants.e towns in the central valley have already been placed on alert. laura anthony has this morning's assignment 7 report. >> this past winter will be remembered for near record snowfall in the high sierra. well huge snowpack is a bounty for california's water situation, it could create problems for those downstream. >> the main area of the concern is in the san joaquin river valley. dave is chief of california's snow surveys. with that much snow sitting in the central and southern sierra, and those reservoirs are already full. they will have a major juggling act to pass that flow through the reservoirs and down into the river and into the valley without inundating the system. >> major rivers are running high, especially in the san joaquin valley where the waterways are smaller than those in the north and the sacramento valley. so far state managers have released water gradually from some reservoirs. but if the weather gets too warm too soon, things could change in a hurry. >> if it gets r
