i measured a foot yesterday at sierra tahoe. and it looks like they could get maybe another foot or two. we need to go see it in person. >> let's do that road trip. let's take a look at how much we're seeing now as we take a look at light rain falling in san francisco. taking a look at the bay bridge and everyone driving. has to really slow it down. turn on the windshield wipers every and then. take a look at some of the rainfall photoltotals we have. i tried to include some of the in a we had this morning. mt. tam 1.3 inches of rain throughout the duration and guerneville and san ramon over 0.75 and san francisco half an inch and about the same in livermore and little bit less than oakland and san jose only had a 0.25 and hopefully more out of the system and another chance as we head into the weekend. but we do still see there is a chance as the system still spins just to the north of us. once again, the next round of rain approaching san francisco right now. so, keep that in mind as you head out the door. we will have waves of

a winter storm warning in the sierra. and a winter weather advisory up in lake county, we could see snow levels there close to two,000 feet. bay area, 2500 feet to 3,000 feet. the snow will probably stay closer to mount hamilton. the heavier showers through the day could drop small hail or even sleet showers near 2,000 feet. this is the reason why we're talking lower snow levels. this cold system diving down out of the gulf of alaska, unlike the system that brought a few inches of rain across the coastal hill tops, this is a colder system. it won't have as much moisture to work with. right around midnight tonight through 7:00 a.m. we'll see the most widespread range as the confident swings through with gusty winds and maybe some thunderstorms during the day tomorrow. so widespread rain as we go through 7:00, as the cold front comes through the south bay. as we move through the afternoon, trivalley south of livermore, those higher peaks towards mount hamilton, you may see some snow flying. lakeport, you'll probably see som

so let's go ahead and get a look at that sierra snow. i know a lot of you have been going skiing. the way things look on the current sierra snow update, the computer is modeling the current snow depths. anywhere from 1 to 2 feet up across the highest elevations which now makes 56.1% of the sierra covered in snow. a stark, stark contrast from what we have not had the past four years. nice to see it starting to add up. as we get a look at the microclimate forecast for wednesday, increased cloud cover, temperatures below average. we're close to the same number across the peninsula, san mateo at 58. for san francisco, we'll stay in the mid to upper 50s. and those partly sunny to mostly cloudy skies. north bay, east bay, and also for the tri-valley, no matter where you're headed tomorrow, you get in the car in one location, get out at another, temperatures going be very similar. napa expected 58. across the tri-valley, 59 in pleasanton. weekend forecast, we'll stay dry through saturday. comfortable temperatures. on sunday, we still keep the chance of scattered showers returning through
