this brings us up to the high sierra. you can see sierra, tahoe, the ski resort, spotlighted earlier in the newscast. i can draw a little circle around here. just a spotlight where it is. just right up here. we know the flames have gotten that far. remember, the red fox is on here to show you where the flames have been detected by the satellite and those flames, by the way all moving in this general direction. now, continue the drive on highway 50, when you go around highway 50 you get it to the top over echo summit. you go around echo summit and you do the switch back that brings you to the beautiful view of the sierra. that is it right there. working our way down. are is the town of meyers, the going to pick up over the next few days, you can see the/10th of the fire. the winds will be going through the screen heading your way. that means echo summit right here is going to act like a funnel just as we start to see strong winds start to move that fire. that is why meyers tonight is under a mandatory evacuation. the fire

contains most of the high sierra. let's zoom in for a closer look specifically at the vicinity of the cal donk fire. this red outline is where the fire was located and the perimeter of the fire for the weekend. let's switch to the satellite indicated hot spots and you can see how the wind is driving those over the ridge and in to the tahoe basin. reports of spot fires going in the meijer area and christmas valley and getting close to south lake tahoe and the more densely populated parts in the basin. the same conditions tomorrow. strong southwest winds 15 to 25 miles an hour and relative humidity levels low. 10 to 20% and the wind is pushing all of that smoke just dreadful air quality levels around the south end of lake tahoe. everybody out should be wearing a mask to protect themselves from this hazardous air levels. as long as it blows the fire will grow and the smoke will be a major issue. the southwest wind is actually good news for the bay. we will track our air in a few minutes. >>> paul, thank you. cargo ship m
