today, looking at a pretty good condition in the sierra nevada, but in the northern sierra, you don't see much the way of smoke, but southern sierra, you you will see smoke there. it is drifting over the state line, but into the second half of the weekend, you can see the wind shifts, and we are getting more smoke into the quick, southlake, and truckee, potentially. keep in mind if you are headed into the mountains there. back home, a lot of fog is keeping us cold at the coast, and receive back home. santa cruz is warmer in the upper 70's, and once that marine layer pulls back, it is 60 in oakland, 64, and it is sunny in san jose, as we look outside. you will notice all of the gray here. san francisco will be in the upper 60's today, and mid upper 60's, but oy, it will feel colder with the winds. there is emeryville. it has been brighter. the numbers are coming up, but the fog is keeping it cold at the coast. everyone is coming down a few degrees, and tomorrow will be warmer. as we get into monday, the trend continues for a cool coastal temperature and warm inland. things change again

it's still sparking thundershowers over the high sierra. we had a couple showers inland parts of the east bay and forth bay. fortunately without any cloud to ground lightning strikes to start new fires. let's look at the satellite and radar over the past six hours or so. you can see the showers and a few thunderstorms in the high sierra, this is the problem. they do provide some rain, the cloud to ground lightning is the last thing we want to see with the vegetation so dry. the fire fuels are ready to go with so many resources committed to the oak fire, the wash burn fire couple weeks ago, we don't want to see any new fires getting going in such steep terrain but that will remain a threat with another surge of monsoonal moisture likely to head our way later this week. not with the dry therm throughothreat for the bay area. thzl out tonight and back and forth, we'll zoom in on a second. the next couple days looking fairly calm. couple more showers popping up on thursday. i think that becomes more likely through the day on friday over the hig

it's mostly up in the sierra and those firefighters will be dealing with that. i was going to ask if i could what he was seeing as far as the burn scars. is that going to help the former burn that was up there, maybe help slow things down? are the thunderstorms in the forecast, with the rain be enough to help temp and down some of this or is that something you don't count on? jonathan: i don't count on anything. fire that occurred in 2018, there will be some regrowth over those four years but that should not be as much fuel loading as we are seeing with the oak fire conditions so that should help with fire suppression. in reference to the thunderstorms, there are lots of different variables that could happen, but we are hoping for higher rh recoveries over the night associated with the moisture in that system. mike: i read that no one has been injured battling this fire. i find that very impressive and hopefully true considering the terrain you are dealing with and all the aircraft out there at one time. jonathan: that is currently the most up-to-date stats i ha
