this is great news central sierra about 81% of average southern sierra. big improvement for you as well. so this is awesome. we needed to see that heavy snowfall and we got up there as for where we're sitting with high temperatures today, it's upper 50's to low 60's later on and we're going to be looking at those temperatures. only warming further specially on into saturday, going to be a gorgeous start to the weekend friday and saturday, sunday starts dry. but we do see chances of rainfall really returning later sunday and especially escalating into monday. as for your roads, what we got out there this morning is a pretty easy commute aside from the fog so far, it really is the dense fog is holding you up elsewhere. not necessarily at the bay bridge, nor at the san mateo bridge where it's looking. all right. but take a look at the richmond. sandra fell is so foggy and up there. this is one of those spans along with the golden gate that you're going want to be slowing it down a little bit as you're making your crossing over. great. thank you, john. along

in the sierra, snow is going to continue to add up. we are talking about intense snowfall rates already starting to kick in but the most intense will happen late tomorrow into tomorrow night, continuing into saturday. we are talking about 8 feet of snow on the high end of things. some of the crests could pick up to 12 feet of snow. 140 inches of total snowfall over the course of the next few days. we will switch perspectives here and look at the 7-day outlook which is wet friday and saturday but lingering showers on sunday. we will go for it and say dry weather on monday. a 30% chance of a shower there and then we have more showers on tuesday, more widespread showers on wednesday, giving way to lingering showers on wednesday. a lot going off in the next couple of days. saturday and sunday, the first weekend in march will feel more like the dead of winter even though spring is getting closer and closer. the calendar says so, even if the weather doesn't. >> you should not try to go up the mountains this weekend. it is not worth it. >> it

up in the sierra nevada. we do have a winter weather advisory from saturday morning through sunday morning. that's that first round of rain. snowfall of the weekend followed by that even heavier round of snowfall sunday night monday into tuesday, adding all of the dup donner summit is going to see near a foot of snowfall around 7 to 9 inches. and that is going to make for chain controls this weekend and over to to even 3 feet of snowfall at the crest of the sierra. this is great news for the sierra nevada because they got some catch-up work to do. snow pack is a little bit less than average for this time of year. 84% of average in the northern sierra lagging behind at 69% of average in the southern sierra. but those numbers are going to look a little healthy air after these next few days. as for temperatures today, low 60's at the coast, mid to even upper 60's elsewhere. south bay temps are going to be some of our warmest with san jose itself getting up to 68 degrees today near 70 before a stormy weekend. tha

even a couple of snow flurries in the sierra nevada right now. but overall, things beginning to calm down a couple of pop-up showers rolling on through throughout the day today in between some of those sunny breaks and a couple of rainbows out there as well. but now things getting quiet and that's just what we need to see is we're going to see some dry weather roll into the bay area over the next couple of days. and that should be some great weather for us. but still look at the prospects of some flooding. it continues even though all the rain has come to an end, a lot of water draining down the hills. we've still got a flood warning in effect near sebastopol. and then you're seeing some of those places like mark west creek continuing at least a minor flood stage. same with other creeks in the area. watching that very closely. look like they're beginning subside. and as long as we don't see any more rain, the warnings will come down very soon. thank you, lawrence. a portion of highway 84 in alameda county will remain closed until at least friday
