good time to go up to the sierra was this weekend. the dry conditions, chilly temperatures, cold nights, all the snow that fell this week. locked in with that cold weather up there across the sierra. and this is pretty interesting. on the satellite view you can actually see all the snow there across the central and southern sierra, courtesy of the storms this week. but notice we're not seeing any incoming storms right now. once you lose the clouds and the moisture, which typically kind of acts like a blanket, you bring in the cool, dry air, you get mornings like this with upper 20s and low 30s across our inland valleys for tomorrow morning, temperatures rebounding during the day, similar to what we had today. mid to upper 50s from san francisco to oakland. might get closer to 60 around south san jose andpper 50s down towards santa cruz. now the pattern change should occur as we get into tuesday night and wednesday. you begin to see rain approaching the coast, and right now the timing looks like thursday as the peak impact for rain and

we also have have a warnings in the sierra along with all of that.e heavy snow, but also the gusty winds. we could see gusts as high as 100 miles per hour on some of the sierra mountain tops. that's going to blow around that 2 to 4 feet of snow resulting in some very high drifts and some whiteout conditions in a few areas, mostly today into early tomorrow. that's why i say wait a little bit longer tomorrow to be heading up during the afternoon. again, multiple feet of snow in the sierra multiple inches of rain for the bay area. we do have flood warnings now again, west of santa rosa as well as major area flooding on up in the santa cruz mountains. this is an area that's already seen upwards of 4 inches of rainfall and is now going to continue to see it. so very small and small streams down in the santa cruz mountains 50's to 60's for your daytime highs today and we are going to be staying in that range of numbers through the forecast. what we're not staying with, though, is the rain. we're getting it out of the way before such a busy weekend. valenti

southern sierra.ut we're getting there right. and we have more snow in the forecast. ski report, some heavenly. they're very happy. the skiers are delighted as we have not only 57 inches at the summit, but 7 inches of new snow. and so it goes resort after resort palisades reporting. lots trails lifts open and 17 inches of new snow. so it's fabulous. daytime temperatures across across lake tahoe. chilly enough to keep that snow from melting. so in the 30's to low 40's and yes, what the sierra forecast shows a lot of sunshine for tomorrow and the next and the next day. and then things will start to change even as a change here in the bay area. bay bridge on this side. well, again, it's a sunshine for the couple of days. we have a respite before the next storm comes and come. it will because here it comes right across the pacific ocean and you see it counter clockwise area. that's the area of low pressure really winding up. and it looks like some of the computer models don't agree on. this looks to me as

but take note, there is going to still be some snow over the sierra. i'll get you those totals here coming up in just a bit, but i want to take it into the wind forecast because we have seen gusts 40 to 60mph early this morning. also this afternoon, not only in the mountains, but some of the lower elevations taking down some trees. and i still see unfortunately some gusts tonight coming out of the west at 20 to 50mph, especially in the mountains. it will get a little bit better here as we roll through tomorrow morning's forecast, 15 to about 30 lower elevations. but wait for it. here we go. once we hit tomorrow night, we'll get into some calmer winds. and that certainly is also going to be a lot better for us. keep that heaviest jacket handy. we're back down to 43 here across the south bay peninsula at 45. also have you dipping down to the low and mid 40s, east bay, san francisco and the north bay. daytime highs coming in with 50s here throughout the bay area. so it's another chilly one through the afternoon. just 56 here in morgan hill, mid 50s in pal

hopefully that guys boss is okay with him sneaking out to the sierra. beautiful sierra to enjoy the fresh powder but it is going to be absolutely gorgeous out there with an additional three feet of snow fall on the ground, skiing, snowboarding or honestly just looking at the snow, it's one of my favorite things. early this morning we are not looking at snow but we are looking at near freezing conditions, under my feet the areas in blue, frost advisories and freeze warnings. i hope you covered your plants, because if you didn't, they are likely already dead, and you might see a little bit of frost on your wind chills -- windshields this morning. don't worry, we will warm up, sitting in the 50s all across the bay area, but with plenty of sunshine, cold wind and quiet conditions overall, a really lovely afternoon to get outdoors and enjoy yourselves. upper 50s around the north bay communities down into the santa clara valley. you might even feel a little bit chilly in san jose, 59, but either way, very seasonable for this time of year. into early tomorrow
