it's going to be a lot of rainfall in the sierra foothills in snowfall in the sierra less than impressive. but then we get to the weekend and snow totals will begin to pile up, especially into the start of next week. and we will be looking at that multiple feet of snowfall that we absolutely need to see. let's get that snow pack built as for the bay area, things will start to kick into gear tomorrow for us. we're going to be looking at rainfall up in the north bay just briefly tonight at around 10 to 11:00pm. just a few light showers really rainfall kicks in late morning tomorrow for the north bay towards the middle of the day for the rest of the bay and areas of yellow, orange and red indicating that heavier intense rainfall on into the afternoon evening commute tomorrow and into the evening tomorrow. rainfall will saturate soils and anything after that. we'll have that risk of small stream flooding. some flooded water on roadways and also with some strong winds. maybe some debris zahn streets as well. rainfall will range from anywhere from 2 to 7 inches over the next several days. and a

you're going to have that fluffy stuff that powdery snow fall down into the sierra foothills snow there around 3 to 6 inches in some areas that haven't even seen it yet. now we will have the round a foot of snowfall around some of our ski resorts and up just above lake shore lake tahoe. and then one to 2 feet of snowfall up towards the crest of the sierra. so very active weekend in particular saturday, up in the sierra. if you're looking to ski head up there today, avoid too much travel tomorrow as things get a little worse on the roads today in san francisco and the rest of the bay area expect upper 50's to low 60's for your highs. it is going to be our most mild day of the rest of the forecast in a similar feel as to what we had yesterday. so if you really like yesterday's cool sunshine today as one that you want to get out there for, we're already going to be feeling cooler temperatures tomorrow and seeing a lot more cloud cover and some midday showers. as i mentioned, and temperatures are likely to get even cooler into the middle of next week with another round of showers likely tow

southern san joaquin county and up the i-80 corridor into the sacramento area and the and the sierra nevada foothills. in recent years, for a couple of reasons, one has been housing affordable, to be sure, and the second is the advent of remote work. people who are able to work remotely, uh, may have chosen to say that they wanted a lower cost of living or more land or better rents. and so they were if they had the ability to do that, um, they, they moved away from the bay area. we're starting to see that trend slowing. one of the things that is probably a disappointment to the fans of the doom loop scenario is that in our most recent report, the city and county of san francisco actually added 4700 people between july of 2022 and july of 2023. and our demographers will point to two reasons for that. number one, the return of those traditional levels of legal foreign immigration that have been so important to the bay area, and particularly our technology based economy there. and the second is that those very high rent, uh, prices during the peak of the covid pandemic have started to slow down. they be

so you can imagine traveling up to the foothills, the sierra nevada expect some major delays and some whiteout conditions with those gusty winds from time to time. gosh, legal storm system moving through tomorrow. but the winter weather advisory being posted for stronger system. that one moving in all wednesday. a continuing into early on thursday morning. that's when we see a lot of snow in the high country. fact some of the models start to pick on that, too. is you see the snow coming in tomorrow and then more of that on the way. start to see some of the mountain peaks there. maybe 18 24 inches of snow. that is some good news for skiers. they're going to love that. that's not really powdery snow. so really not a lot of water content yet in the snow. that's coming, too. but skiers just love that stuff. yeah. the opposite of concrete. that time. cement. yes, i'm at the airplane and names for it. but, you know, as you pointed out when to take a tumble, it's nice as ice. a lot that nice, fluffy all right. thanks for but you may be familiar with a heart sculptures are found that about to

so you're going to be dealing snow on problems getting up there right on through the foothills of the sierra nevada. so >> if you travel up there right now, here's the very latest. you see 80 here. and that is just getting covered in the snow. now you see 50 up here. chained up both ways, both east and westbound as we're going to see some major delays across the high country. a winter storm warnings up in the sierra nevada to heavy snow possible overnight tonight with some of those gusty winds today, 8 inches of snow expected at lake level. by the time we had it all up, maybe as much as a foot, maybe 18 inches above 6,000 feet. so, yeah, a lot of snow coming our way overnight. so that is some good news. you can see the advisories and warnings cc the warnings there. all right. the western of the sierra nevada advisors up across the spine of the sierra and we're going to see more that i think as we get the weekend, too bay area, yet we're still seeing showers outside some downpours out there right now looking toward the golden gate bridge, rain coming down again as we've got another round of r

we have a winter storm warning once again in the sierra away from the foothills you see for nevada city kirk with their so 80, 50, you don't want to travel tonight. we have the heavy snow expected. another a 6 to 14 inches expected about around 3500 feet. more about that. and gusts can even reach 60 miles an hour or so. hopefully not know is going to travel overnight for that looks fire tomorrow morning sunday. monday looks like a better day to travel. so back here at the bay bridge. so have those wet roads out there. so thankfully it's a weekend and hopefully people are not out of the road. you can see not a lot of traffic tonight on the saturday night, but we're also talking about the winds. we have some breezy conditions, even at this hour a lower elevation here in napa nevado 20 miles an hour. they take you over to the higher peaks you're seeing what you can see 12, 30 miles per hour in calistoga. and then 29 in petaluma throughout the evening. so you could see some tree branches down depending where you are and we'll be waking up to the low 50's upper 40's depending where you are.

sierra nevada. winter storm warnings all the way the foothills there.nd that's where expecting that snow level dropped very low overnight tonight down to about 3500 feet. that probably the lowest of the season so far. and we've really got a series of cold storms. i think these next couple of skiers are going to love this. these colder storms. yeah, they're not really water rich, but what they are to give you that nice, fluffy, powdery snow that a lot of skiers like to ski friday. the plan headed up there. tomorrow is going to be a typical day. we've got those a winter storm warnings up there. and so, yeah, more snow showers for tomorrow. dry out though, as we head in toward thursday and friday. so if you need to sneak away, i think those days are looking good is good travel day, especially on friday. if you want to get it for the weekend. word to the wise, though we've got another storm system coming in this week. pact. those chains don't go up there thinking that you're going to get up there, get back without any issues. there's more stormy weather on
