degrees in long beach. 74 degrees and warm in pasadena in the high head up in the sierra nevada, not bad. 66 south lake tahoe, 60, 70 being partly cloudy for tomorrow. 78 warm in reno. if you're sticking around those temperatures going to be running a little bit cooler into saturday and sunday. there's actually a cold front that's going to be diving through. not expected to bring in much activity, although you could see some pop-up showers in the afternoon. a memorial day. i want to show you this forecast model here says moved to california. see all the clouds rolling on by. so we see clouds on and off through tomorrow. there's just no getting around that low clouds and fog around the bay area. most the rain stays to the north. watch what as we get into saturday. things change. your comes this cold front just kind of rolling in the bay area. by the afternoon. there's a chance we could be talking about some showers in the north bay on saturday. it's not going to huge amount. we're talking hundreds of an inch of rain but be prepared by the afternoon. you might see a couple of scattered showers there then

tracking some very spotty scattered showers along the western portions of the sierra, but very dry, calm conditions for south lake tahoe. but noticeably breezy as well for most of the sierra, we're seeing wind gusts upwards of 50 miles per hour or less with the wind advisory in effect through 11 o'clock tonight. and then a lake wind advisory going into effect early sunday morning through sunday night, especially at south lake tahoe. we're going to see gusts upwards of 45 miles per hour or less increasing wave heights anywhere from 2 to 4 feet. so if you are planning on going boating out there, enjoying the lake for your memorial day weekend, just keep that in mind sunday. not really going to be the best day for that. wait until monday. but future cast for going to show sunnier, drier conditions and also temperatures slightly warming up into the mid 50's for south lake tahoe. 58 degrees for truckee, flirting with 60's by your memorial day monday. so very pleasant temperatures there. but then a few degrees above average by tuesday with sunny skigs and temperatures warming up into the mid 60's. so temperatures out t

let's talk about the sierra rare may snowstorm did hit lake tahoe. snow fell on elevations above 5000 ft. at at least four more inches are expected tomorrow. right now, chains are required on both 80 and 50 headed up to the mountains. reporter liz amy tree has more on how travelers are coping. while the wind blew the snow sideways. it was tough to see. but you could hear. the squish of sandals, hard gender. ram walked and then picked up the pace a bit to get back to the warmth of the cabin of his truck after a quick stop at the donner pass rest area, he's headed to salt lake city, and he wasn't the only traveler along interstate 80, who wasn't exactly dressed for the occasion. we saw this guy making a run for it, and we met danny doctor from reno d o c k t. e. r. that's the way doctors should be spelled. he's no stranger to snow, but this spring storm caught him off guard. i'm wearing shorts, some real little short socks. yeah i wasn't expecting it. derek hoeg, on the other hand, knew exactly what was coming. we've been watching the weather because i

, but also the greater lake tahoe area. most of the sierra that matter, valleys gusting up to 55 miles per hour less with this year. ridgecrest going to see wind speeds near 100 miles per hour starting monday morning through monday night. that is going to increase wave heights anywhere from 2 to 4 feet, not just for pyramid lake, but also lake tahoe as well. so just keep that in mind. see our snowpack right now averaging 32% of normal. not really seeing any substantial snow showers could see something late into next week. but the models still a little bit waukee going from dry to some snow, but very inconsistent out there right now. but one thing is for sure, we're going to track another beautiful day out there for the 2nd half of the weekend. dry, clear, calm conditions with those wind gusts returning by monday afternoon. going to be a little bit breezy tomorrow, 30 miles per hour, less truckee warming up to 59 degrees, south lake tahoe in the mid-fifties. but watch out for those winds as a storm tries to clip the sierra but going to be more

sierra. it helps to recharge streams and reservoirs and lakes. also hydropower. the trends have been changing. this year we only finished at 42% of normal. it is only two years in the past 10 that finished above 100% of normal. the snow was also melting earlier. you can see it is now melting around 21 days sooner. not only less water from the snowpack that the groundwater is doing pretty bad because of the drought. it will take a lot of us coming together, including the government investing in infrastructure. repairing dams and reservoirs and canals and providing new reservoirs to store that. on top of that, we need to think about conserving water. also using drip irrigation. i don't want you to get discouraged. there is a lot coming at you when it comes to the changing climate. there is new information that says all of us can do our part and help to change things by lowering our carbon foot rent. >>> tomorrow, temperature starting off warmer in the 50s. there is no need for a jacket. 56 in san francisco. the north bay at 59. in the south bay, it puts us back to

lake county as well as sonoma county. and take a look at what is happening in the sierra as expected. we are looking at that possibility of some snow in the winter weather advisory for travelers that starts at 11 o'clock this morning and goes until 11 o'clock tonight. if you're traveling up, be prepared for winter travel here in may. here's a look at the timeline on this rain 89 o'clock or so it's moving into areas of the north bay as it slides into the central and south bay. it does fizzle out a little bit falls apart, so a little bit of a better opportunity for our north bay locations. but there's a look at 10 o'clock right over the central bay. it's a quick mover, though. there's 11 o'clock, 12 o'clock. it's already into the south bay and then it's out of here and we are left with very cool. breezy conditions for your afternoon. how cool! take a look at this 59 degrees today for santa rosa. 56 in san francisco upper fifties for oakland. we've got low sixties in livermore, 5 to 15 degrees below the seasonal average will have a better look at the afternoon highs for today and what we

check it in 60 degrees in lake tahoe, at least in the sierra temperatures in the upper forties to lowerere's the plan this weekend. we're gonna have some wind around here. they have a wind advisory for lake tahoe lakewood advisory for saturday and then lots of sunshine in the sierra for sunday and into monday. remember the heat we had just a few days ago. well, that big heat dome is moving out to the east, and we had this cooler pool of air setting up for us, so as a result, temperatures have been cooling off. still that bit of a breeze that really kicked in for today and then into your saturday this front wants to approach our region and essentially kind of fall apart. but this will keep temperatures down, and we do bring in the chance of a few sprinkles. it's a slight chance, but the best possibility would be up in the north bay. but maybe even some coastal drizzle as well. so we have some clouds around for your saturday, especially for the first half the day in the in the form of some lower clouds. the forecast models showing you the bulk of the rainfall is focused up to our north, b

lake tahoe and breezy day at that. so temperatures going to be on the cool side and gusty winds for the valleys. 55 miles per hour less with the highest peaks in the sierrato 100 mile per hour. wind speeds increasing lake heights and your from 2 to 4 feet from now through the overnight hours very early saturday. so we are going to see saturday, the transitional day, a lot more sunshine, still very breezy out there in the sierra. even after that wind advisory expires. and we are tracking light scattered showers for us here in the bay area on sunday. turning into mountain snow for this we're going to continue through monday and tuesday of this upcoming week bringing some much-needed snow to the sierra with averaging right now. 27% of normal mid 50's tomorrow for truckee and south lake tahoe with those snow showers dropping temperatures 10 to 20 degrees below average sunday monday and even into tuesday. so we could see up to a foot of snow for the highest peaks and anywhere from about 6 inches or less throughout most of the valley. so great to see this winter weather in the sierra in the coming days. back to you. just staying. thank you. it's time now to ch

sierra snow. rob? >> call it may-uary. 27 degrees at lake tahoe right now. the snow coming down. look at the radar view. heavy snow at times. and the snow levels dropping. they're about 4,000 to 5,000 feet. which means if you can get any of this moisture closer to the bay area, mount saint helena or mount hamilton would have a slight chance of snow flurries. the issue here closer to home not as much moisture to work with. isolated showers around the north bay, up by calistoga and cloverdale. we'll see a few more as we head towards tomorrow morning. but the bigger story continues to be the gusty winds. over 46 miles per hour around sfo. throughout the bay area, 20 to 30-mile-per-hour winds with highs today in the 50s. so the chilly changes to the weekend forecast will carry through for at least the first couple of days of the workweek through about tuesday. showers at times. more sierra snow. we'll take a closer look at the totals, and when summer-like temperatures arrive in our seven-day forecast. a look at that coming up in about 15 minutes. back to you. >> okay, rob, thank you.

sierra on webls. no one should be wearing shorts. it's 26 degrees in lake tahoe. what are you doing? next weekend, shorts. northwest wins at 20 miles an hour. you're really going to notice it tuesday and wednesday morning. probably some 30s for the morning temperatures. for now, wind speeds, a little breezy out there. we'll see it pick up in the afternoon. wind speeds at 20 to 30-miles-per-hour. so morning temperatures in the 40s. by the time we get to the 40s, a chance of elevated showers. it doesn't look all that widespread but as the pockets of cold air come in, chances are you will see few of those around the north bay. the santa cruz mountains toward mount hamilton. if it is cold enough, you might see a dusting he snow. 4,000 feet. the better chance is on tuesday. it wobbles over the bay area tuesday afternoon. that's the best chance for seeing a little snow shower activity. about 4,000 feet. near mount st. helena. thursday through friday, big changes. high pressure. thursday, temperatures in the 70s. friday's temperatures in the 80s, and next weekend. that's how it looks. a big

i'm looking at you, solano county lake, northern portions of napa counties may see some isolated areas of heavy rainfall falling up there. as for the sierra taking a step back from the snow, you'll still htve some light flurries up there, but not as much as yesterday. today is the last of it. we'll be really be clearing skies outcome tomorrow and the rest of the forecast after that is going to be a whole lot clear, drier and calmer getting gradually gradually warmer today is going to be yet another breezy one fairly similar to yesterday, 15, 20 to 25 miles per hour. wind gusts for a lot of the bay pretty directly moving into the bay from the west. this time around after today. we are really going to start to calm things down this dip in the jet stream begins to wane a little bit as high pressure will build back in. this is going to allow temperatures start to get warmer and warmer over the next several days. today, though, just as cool as yesterday was. and yes, definitely well below average for this time of year. if you notice that the past few days have not felt like your typical made days really do in the bay. that's because we're look
