rotating back around up in the sierra nevada.ain is being drawn up from a low pressure system right off the coast. some of that rain is turning to snow. at last check it was rain at tahoe truckee. and swinging right up here to the southwest. right near santa cruz. santa cruz coast. also out toward the san mateo coast later on. the low will be here today and tomorrow. with that in mind 50s on the temps for most. generally a low 50s to upper 50s. sierra nevada though probably too much cloud cover. but you can see this is rotating back from east to west. very unusual for may. no doubt. and then this is rotating and swinging close. near monterey or santa cruz. 30s and 40s and 50s. 37 tahoe. maybe above lake level you are getting snow. this system combined with that puts us in line for possible showers and thundershowers. rain coming off the sierra nevada. cloud, showers. possible afternoon thunderstorms. i would think more likely toward south bay and peninsula. we will definitely keep an eye on things. 60s and 70s. temperatures have

look at the spine of the sierra nevada surrounding lake tahoe. snow showers and our snow levels are very high. as you can imagine, temps in the bay area are in the 60s. very unusual to see that. that's exactly what we are working with this morning. we have light isolated activity in the north bay. showers have been pretty light. we have had enough moisture come through to make the highways a little bit on the slick side. you do want to travel cautiously as we head throughout the day. we haven't had any significant rainfall recently. that tends to slicken up the rhodes a little bit. that losens up all the oil that's been accumulating. as we stop the clock on your futurecast, 9:00 a.m., a little bit more activity on the south bay. mostly going to see the action on the east and south end of the bay area. we might see stray showers up in the north bay as we head throughout the day. basically, pesky showers. you probably want to bring an umbrella with you. not expecting anything too heavy. no puddles or ponding. enough to get your clothes nice and wet

some developing news from the northern sierra nevada where daybreak will bring a chance for people to check for earthquake damage in plumas county. some surveillance video from a store near the epicenter shows shelves shaking and items falling into the aisles. there are no reports of injuries. it was 5.7, a good sized quake centered near greenville 110 miles northeast of sacramento and it struck last night just before 9:00. here's what it looked like on our kpix 5 seismograph. thousands of people from the bay area all the way up to oregon to nevada all felt the quake. and here's a look at some of the damage near the epicenter. it's a kitchen in prattville on the shores of lake almanor. they thought their cabin near the lake was coming down. a lot of people in sacramento felt it, as well. >> actually i felt the couch kind of go from side to side. i thought it was a car driving by. it wasn't nothing -- it wasn't shaking to the point where, you know, it was noticeable. >> but they felt it. the usgs says this type of damage is typical of a 5.7 quake items falling off shelves. there's been
