we've got a significant storm, though, headed for the sierra nevada.s going bring rain to the bay area. there's a slight chance we could see a dusting of snow across the higher peaks in diablo out hamilton. heavy snow, though, over the sierra nevada of some very strong gusty winds there as well. snow levels down about 2500 feet. we're talking about a foot, maybe 2 feet above 3500 feet. that means a lot of snow down the low level. so if you're traveling up there, you can expect some major delays and some whiteout conditions from time as that system works its way across the sierra. see the areas shaded in red. those are the areas under the winter storm warning the advisory for snow all the way down to mammoth lakes in parts of yosemite as well. and some strong winds to go along with that. but computer models picking up all that snow and you can see right across the top of the sierra nevada, really a nice heavy snow as it's going to come through. so that. looking good right now. dry here in the bay area at this time. but not for long. we've got yet anothe

just a few light sprinkles this morning for most spots up in the sierra nevada. storm warning through 10:00pm tonight and snow level this morning as low as 3500 feet see a solid foot of snowfall at the crest of the sierra. and it is a tough one getting up there. chp has issued chain controls on both highway 50 as well as on i-80, now skies across the bay area are quite as active as they were yesterday, but we still have rainfall, including this area of isolated moderate rain that just made its way through berkeley now up into the east bay hills, as well as right on over towards hercules up there in contra costa county. we're seeing some light showers on the peninsula up in the north bay, currently enough to keep roadways wet. so absolutely taking a little bit slower as you're venturing outside this morning, showers will continue off and on over the next couple of hours here. but really being done by late morning and into the afternoon, we'll see more and more peeks of sunshine tomorrow. looks to be a nice, dry, beautiful and clear day. but we do see multiple more

we had some light flurries up in the sierra nevada last night as well as some light showers for just a couple spots in the bay area like around highway 17 as you go up into the santa cruz mountains this morning, we've started to see some dense fog formation for areas of the inland east bay talking spots like a lafayette on up to walnut creek. as you go up to concord and out towards antioch. so make sure to take a little slower in these lower visibility spots. now a series of cold systems. we'll continue to impact not just the bay, but especially the sierra nevada in the days ahead of u.s. november and december storms were kind of on the warmer side. so we were building a lot of snowpack. but now this year is about to be the start of the show with these next 2 systems. as for the bay area, we're kind of taking the back seat today. we've got a lot of sunshine, mild conditions tomorrow. we've got a brief round of wet weather moves through late morning for the north bay. and here's right at the peak of it around one 15 pm tomorrow. most heavy rainfall potential is going to be further inl
