sierra is getting several more inches of snow. is closed from apple gate to the nevada state line. that is due to zero visibility. yesterday the snowplows started hitting the roads. they are trying to keep up with all that fresh snow. if you are headed to the sierra, x-to see chain restrictions posted along interstate 80 and highway 50. a big rig accident snarled westbound traffic on 80 for two hours yesterday evening. should we try to go back to lisa or come back later? all right, on to other news. san francisco police are investigating a shooting that left two people critically injured outside a nightclub. it happened in the 2400 block of san bruno avenue just after 2:00. a man and woman were found with gunshot wounds and were rushed to a local hospital. police are still gathering information about any suspects. no description has been released so far. san francisco police are investigating a possible hit-and-run after a man was found dead at a downtown intersection last night. investigators want to hear from any possible witnes

the northern sierra is at 15 of normal. the central sierra is at 130%. and the southern sierra was at 139%. >>> in el dorado county where a ktvu camera man strapped on snow shoes to shoot this video the snow is 8 feet deep. for the three sierra districts, the snow pack is 123% of normal for this time of year. >>> the marin municipal water district gets all of its waters from local reservoirs and watersheds. so marin depends on rain and this year it's also being helped by reduced demand. >> it's down by 15% compared to where we were a couple of years ago, with full reservoirs we should not have any problem for at least a year or maybe two. >>> marin is releasing water from some of its reservoirs to prevent flooding in case of too much run off. the average reservoir level in santa cruz county is a little lower currently at 57%. traditionally january is california's wettest month. december is the next wetter followed by january then march. but this year the pattern did not hold true with a relatively dry january. we are going to continue to monitor the weat
