can you represent silicon valley in particular. your book is about creating tech jobs outside of silicon valley. can you talk a little more about that? rep. khanna: we have seen in this country massive loss of production. while some places like my district, silicon valley, thrive. $10 trillion in market cap. there were two mistakes. one, an insufficient respect for place. a lot of people love growing up in the community they are in and they want to stay there. they want to stay in the community where they have family, friends, and they want the jobs to be there. second, we decided that all this production did not matter. i don't understand the economic strategy. now we realize the consequences and the pandemic. we don't make masks here, we don't make a medical equipment here, we don't have enough semi conductors made here, where we have literally cars sitting idle fully manufactured but we don't have a semi conductor chip. so my thesis in the book is to say we cannot just have the concentration of an economy in a few areas like new
